This is an older hotel with modern updates. Mattress was very comfortable, pillows are nice and fluffy, nice quality sheets, blankets, and thick towels. Bathroom shower, toilet, and sink are all new. Some old dirt/grunge around the doorframe, carpeting is not new but not bad.
Continental breakfast includes simple egg patties, sausage, hash browns, fresh waffles, and packaged fruit and pastries. Juices and basic coffee and Lipton teas.
Staff is friendly, professional and helpful.
Room is small, lobby is small but attractive. View out hotel room window is unattractive backs of buildings.
I stayed at the Redbury just around the corner and much prefer its stylish rooms and hotel ambiance and restaurant, but not sure the extra $ is worth it. You can go to Marta, the restaurant at the Redbury, for a meal but stay at the Clarion and save yourself some cash for other NYC expenses.
