National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism

Good value, esp with a large breakfast buffet included. I liked the wallpaper in the hallways. Free washing machine (pay to use dryer) was also appreciated. Location seemed fine. Visited during typhoon, so did not really get a sense of whether it was a good location for a tourist.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Papa Whale. Having a variety of coffee down stairs is a life saver. Moreover, daily Taiwanese tea eggs is a treat. The staff is nice, the room is clean and the bed is very comfortable. The AC is powerful to fight against the hot summer weather. I highly recommend getting Taiwanese Mon Tou bread from across the street. Thank you, Papa Whale staff.

The gym is tiny, and getting there is unnecessarily complicated — take the elevator from the 6th floor down to the 5th, only to find a gym you’d expect in a budget hotel.
