"The property seems to be recently updated, it is modern, and clean. The amenity is lacking a few things (for example, it tells the guest to wash dishes and put them away but doesn’t provide a clothe to dry them). Also, the instruction isn’t super clear. The instruction reads to leave the key on the table when checking out (that’s what it says literary in English), when in fact you need to lock and put the key in the lockbox as one example. Also the road to access the property is quite narrow...

The staff was lovely and the room quite comfortable, by Western standards for a Japanese room (although the futons were by far the hardest and most uncomfortable of the three ryokans we visited). This is our second time visiting the Setre Naramachi Hotel as a couple and it’s been nothing short of an absolute delight. The rooms are luxurious and spacious. The location is conveniently next to a station so traveling around Japan was easy to do. We can’t wait to come back! "
