"The hotel itself was fine, and the location was very convenient to the train. The first staff member I interacted with was fantastic—friendly and very helpful.
We were traveling with my elderly parents and had two separate rooms. The day before their arrival, I specifically asked whether they could bring their luggage to our room for storage while we explored Amsterdam before their room was ready. I was told this was fine.
When my parents arrived, another staff member followed us into the elevator, down the hall, and to our room without saying anything. Shortly afterward, this person called our room asking how many adults were staying there, clearly concerned that we were bringing unregistered guests into our room.
I completely understand the hotel needing to verify the number of guests. What bothered me was how it was handled. The staff member could simply have asked us in the lobby, elevator, or hallway. We could have immediately explained that my parents had their own reservation and that another staff member had already approved storing their luggage in our room.
Instead, being silently followed to our room and then questioned by phone made us feel as though we were suspected of being dishonest. It was especially frustrating because I had proactively asked permission specifically to avoid a misunderstanding like this. A simple, courteous conversation would have resolved everything."
