Victorian hotel right on the seafront with views over the beach, bay and Lake District. The property has obviously had a lot of work done to modernise it with smart furniture and comfy beds although it shows its age in some parts of the fabric of the building. The area around the hotel is not the best part of town, and is a walk from the town centre.

Great hotel. Good points Lovely big room. Sea views Free parking Friendly staff Black out curtains Only small bad point for me is that the beds were a bit hard. That's just my personal opinion though.

Found the Clarenden to exceed our expectations, especially for the price. Comfortable rooms, warm, friendly helpful staff. would definitely stay agian.

Brilliant hotel.
Me, my husband and our youngest son (age11) stayed for one night. The room was large, there was plenty storage in the room. The bed was very comfortable and big, our son said the double sofa bed was the same. The view of Morecambe Bay from our room was fantastic. The staff were very helpful. We didn’t eat in the hotel, we decided to eat out. Would definitely stay again.

Great friendly service
The service was excellent. We got delayed in traffic and the hotel called to. Heck we were ok and helped us with what to do if we arrived really late. Clean friendly hotel and right on the sea front.

Lovely stay. Couldn't fault anything other than the weather which is out of everyones control. Lovely breakfast and staff very friendly. Well worth a visit

3 day break
Hotel looked nice, reception good. Single room was clean comfortable. Bathroom ok, clean plenty of towels but shower power was very low. Breakfast were adequate and freshly, may be a bit expensive (£10) if yo only have small portions. Checked out on a Saturday but no one on reception except night Porter. Weather? Typical NW cloudy, sometimes wet.

Room was clean. However, room service due to Covid seemed not to be available until after 3 days stay. Cups were changed but nothing else done. I think this was more due to shortage of staff.

The exterior gives a poor impression of the hotel. The interior is full of original fittings (including a wonderful staircase) which just requires a little TLC. Staff are extremely friendly and willing to help. Excellent breakfast.

Hotel right on see front 5 minute walk to everything clean and frendly only down side is traffuc noise but to be expected as on the front and hotel is on the main road

The hotel was welcoming, the staff were friendly. I stayed in a room that was quite noisy on the first night, and the staff kindly put me into a much more suitable room for the 2nd night. Free parking next to the hotel. Clean and comfortable.

This hotel was excellent value for what i wanted nice small room the view wasnt nice but it didnt impact the ratings that i gave and yes I definitely would stay here again

Traditional seafront hotel
First time booking via Hotels.com, but was asked to pay for room on arrival, so I later had to ask for a refund (though the manager who dealt with this was charming and very apologetic). Hotel is well placed on the West End seafront. Had a drink in the lounge bar in the evening - a good place to do some quiet work, too. Only minor gripe was that the shower in my room had no hot water - not great as I'd just been for a run.

It was last minute trip the hotel is under renovation but the room we had was very nice we stayed 2 nights the bed was very comfortable the breakfast was ok it was a little bit cold but overall a pleasant stay and we will definitely return

An overall lovely experience
This is a typical seaside hotel which is looking a little dated. Unfortunately we didn't get a sea view room, we got a fire escape view room, however, the cleanliness, the service, the adorable staff and the food all made up for this and is the reason I'd prefer this kind of hotel to the usual chain hotels!
