This is a stylish property - yes perhaps once again in need of a little TLC, but it's well organised and the staff were helpful. There are some interesting and stylish public spaces. The rooms are spacious and quirky - and warm, with comfy beds and reasonable pillows. Your view is either of the car park (sheltered?) or the sea (perhaps less so?). I didn't eat here apart from breakfast. Morecambe has fabulous views but is rather down at heel- but I was there on business so that's not really relevant.

Went fir afternoon tea as a birthday celebration and decided on a weekend stay. Friendly, welcoming staff throughout. Comfortable and well appointed though some areas in need of a little tlc.

The rooms are starting to age with wallpaper peeling behind the radiator in the bathroom. Not what I expect for the price paid. The menu choices are awful for a hotel of the price. Very poor and not reflective of the quality of the food. The no book policy is daft and only works because people are not eating there as the menu choices are so poor.

Heating in dining area and lounge very poor. Food average. We waited at table for 15 mins to be served before realising we had to order at Bar - we should have been advised of procedure. Wind whistled in window frame in room. Having spent several short breaks here over the years, this occasion was very disappointing.

False promises
The advert on hotels.com said room service available, when I asked at reception they said they no longer offer this. Went downstairs for dinner ordered a starter and main, finished the starter then sat for 30 mins and the main never arrived. Spoke to the lady behind the bar who said the guy who collected my starter hadn't told the kitchen so my main hadn't been prepared. Disappointed as other than the weird bathroom door design the room itself was nice and the location and parking are great.

We didn’t think it came up to the standard of the price we paid. It was enjoyable but we won’t book there again. Lobby uninviting. Views from restaurants were excellent . That was the best. Looking at the sea. Breakfast fruit salad was mainly apple and nothing much else. Hot water for tea making big at buffet not hot enough. Breakfast was good but I expect everything to be good. Not enough bread choice at buffet breakfast.

5 stars the food was good,the staff were helpful and friendly and it was nice and warm and there was everything you needed in your room eg iron and ironing board,safe hair dryer plus the usual drinks etc.The shampoos etc were The White Company

Fabulous Hotel
We had a fabulous one night stay at The Midland. Our room was comfortable, spacious & well equipped. We had a lovely view of the bay. The staff were great, very friendly & helpful. Food was delicious.

Modern hotel
Overall good but dining room too cold. Bathroom heating permanently off, no bathroom door meaning no privacy. Cleanliness excellent and staff very friendly.

Not as good as you'd hope or expect
Just returned from a two night stay at the Midland. In some respects it is excellent - which it should be for the price really. The staff are brilliant - courteous and helpful. I also very much appreciated what seemed to be an inclusive recruitment policy. It is truly lovely to look out over the bay as you eat. The rooms are attractive but there are issues with the ensuite bathrooms. There is no sound insulation at all - not only between your bedroom and bathroom areas but also between your room and the bathroom above. We heard every flush of the toilet above us and that wasn't great at 4.45 in the morning! The room fridge also makes a loud hum and we had to turn it off to sleep. There is a bath which was a nice surprise but there were no bathrobes. We were told that you have to request them when you make your booking. This isn't stated anywhere so not sure how we would have known to ask. And there is no moveable shower head so you wash your hair every day or wear a single use plastic shower cap. This seemed at odds with being offered a "green deal" of 2 free drinks if we chose not to have room service and clean towels on the second day. I loved this green deal concept. Shame it didn't carry through to other areas. I guess the building is very expensive to upkeep and the over all impression is of art deco beauty, but it is a bit sad in places e.g. lots of condensation running down the windows and shower sealant that could do with a refresh. Iwas hoping for better

The hotel from the outside looks like it needs a lick of paint but it's next to the sea so this is to be expected. The views are stunning and the position of The Midland is perfect. The staff go above and beyond, they are polite, friendly and efficient and obviously very well trained. The food was excellent particularly our delicious breakfast with proper loose leaf tea served in a silver pot with tea strainers for each cup. Our room was really comfortable with a balcony looking out to sea with the Lake District fells in the background. We had such a lovely, relaxing stay and will definitely be back again, hopefully very soon. Highly recommended 👌.

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Not cheap, but reasonable value for money. Premium room was a good size with all the expected amenities. Staff were very friendly and eager to please, but maybe short-handed, as many hotels are. Food was excellent. Loved the Art-deco ambience and the view was great.

The Midland - no better than middling.
Underwhelming and disappointing stay. First impressions disappointing as the exterior of the building cracked and stained in many places. Reception experience was pleasant and positive. We’d paid for a balcony room - however the balcony was covered in green slime, while the balcony chairs were filthy. The room itself was a mixed bag. Bed and shower were good, however the furniture was cheap and tacky looking and the upholstered chairs were stained and shabby. The wardrobe was a conundrum with the coat hangers pole about six feet high to reach. Our stay was just about salvaged by very good breakfast before departure. A little TLC could improve The Midland greatly, but at over £200 per room it is relying on its legacy rather than its current quality.
