There were also quite a few really tasty restaurants surrounding the hotel. Would definitely stay again if in the area. "

The fact that you get free drinks at check in and with dinner is incredible given the rates in low season. Amazing deal! Please keep in mind that you really need your own transport to stay here. The hotel is off by itself, with great views, but nothing immediately nearby. "

"We had an amazing time staying at Il Mare Surfhotel Wacasa. We were greeted by the owner who immediately sat us down on the patio overlooking the water and brought us peach sodas and our choice of popsicles! He took pictures of us enjoying the view and when we were ready to check into our room we came inside. Our room was INCREDIBLE! Not only the beachfront balcony but the space was decorated with designer furniture that matched the lobby as well. We made fresh coffee each morning then went to the restaurant next door for a private breakfast served on the terrace. The food was amazing and the waiter was so kind! We spoke with the owner every day at least once, he is such a friendly person and you can tell he loves hosting and interacting with guests! I love the photos he took of us each day and he made sure to email them to us shortly after. This hotel was more than just a place to stay, it was such a lovely experience and we hope to come back one day!"

"If you want to take a step off the beaten track in Japan this is a very good option. The hotel is situated in a very good place to explore the Kyoto on Sea area (this is not Kyoto city). The Hotel will send a minibus at certain times of day to pick new visitors up from the railway station. The hotels offers visitors free bike hire for 4 hours and is relatively close to the bus route for exploring other parts of the area. As this is not a city you are limited in the immediate area for places to eat out. "
