A beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. I have very mixed feelings about The Brown, Guatape.
On the positives, the hotel is located in paradise - a beautifully secluded location. The restaurant food is superb, and the beach club is incredible.
However, The Brown is advertised as a Luxury hotel 'Autograph' which was not matched by the service.
The hotel presents images of a well equipped gym, and whilst there is good cardio equipment, many of the images are outdated with almost all of the weight training equipment not in the gym - it was actually very basic for a hotel gym weight equipment wise, with one multi gym, two legs machines and a few free weights.
The hotel rooms are advertised as sound proofed - this is a misrepresentation. On my final night I was kept up all night from thumping music on a boat in the lake - far from the hotel. The thin windows do not do much for outside noise at all.
Check in was not a welcoming experience with security not speaking english and asking us for our hotel bracelets - which we did not have prior to check in. He demanded proof of reservation at the hut - where there is no cell service.. Eventually he had a clipboard with guest names - that could have been simply used from the start. We were driven up to the hotel reception to line up for 10 minutes before we could check in.
The bathroom had mould in several places by the toilet wall, shower wall and elsewhere which was obvious and what I would expect in a basic hotel.
