"The Pros: The hotel lobby was beautiful and spacious. Our room was nice, although our view was of the street and sometimes it was loud with sirens wailing nearby. The service at Peter B's (one of their restaurants) was good. We appreciated how dog friendly it was. The location was good-- central to the wharf and easy to walk to the trail that runs along the water up to Cannery Row. The pool was nice, too. The Cons: The wifi was laughable. It barely worked at all. you could pay money to "upgrade", which I'm assuming might get you working wifi, but why not just provide your guests with a decent internet connection? The coffee maker inside the hotel room didn't work. There was good coffee near the hotel, so not a dealbreaker, but still annoying. The elevator system was also weird. You had to select which floor you wanted to go to on a touch screen outside the elevator bank, then it directed you to which elevator was yours. The touchscreen often froze, meaning you had to stand there and press buttons repeatedly until the elevator finally worked. Lastly, the service at Jack's the morning we ate there was terrible. I had to ask for water twice before he finally brought some, then he never checked on us after bringing our food. Didn't even get one refill on my coffee the entire breakfast. These were mostly small annoyances and I would consider staying there again, but I did expect a bit more."

"This hotel installed portable AC and it is a little noisy. Also, our room has partial view of the sand/beach, but it also means facing the highway 1 & street. It’s noisy due to loud traffic. We’re on the second floor and the people on the 3rd floor have kids running around, it’s super loud. The hotel wall is still thin so it’s very easy to hear noises. We booked 3 nights for our anniversary at this hotel. We drove 6.5 hours to the hotel, feeling exhausted but we couldn’t close our eyes due to the noisy tenants above us. We asked the front desk for help and see if we can move to a different room but they said they don’t have any other room available. I am a light sleeper and I couldn’t sleep for 2 night straight. Due to lack of sleep, I couldn’t function normally and skipped all the fun activities that we planned for our vacation. Thus, we decided to cut our vacation short and check out the very next morning after our second night. We didn’t get refund for our 3rd night but at least we got some rest at home. We visited Monterey several times but we never experienced loud noises in a hotel like this trip. "

"A lovely property, an outrageously beautiful location. The amenities are amazing... wine wall with a few complimentary glasses per room was an unexpected treat. The pool is great but loses sun exposure pretty early this time of year. The hot tub was not working properly (no jets and the heater had failed). On the con side: my sister and I were traveling together with our school age children and requested adjoining/adjacent rooms and when we arrived at 1:30 pm, we were told that we were getting adjacent rooms that would be ready in 45 minutes. 2 hours later when we attempted to check in, we were told that our rooms were not only not ready but that we wouldn't even be on the same floor, very surprising and frustrating. We reiterated our room request and ended up waiting for some time again. We were not given our rooms until after 5pm. My sister was forced to request a roll away bed due to her room only having one King bed and not the two Queens that she requested. We had to ask for the roll away three times and it wasn't brought to her until 9pm. The hotel and amenities are lovely but I think that the staff are either inexperienced, lack communication between shifts, aren't given clear instruction etc... We will definitely stay here again but we will cross our fingers for a more organized check-in/check-out experience. for what its worth, we checked out 36 hours ago and our accounts still are not closed at the hotel and my Expedia account has not been credited my OneKey "
