Stayed here for 2 nights and overall we had a lovely time. I paid £20 extra per night for a room upgrade but unfortunately the tea/coffee, biscuits were not replenished after 1 night and i phoned and asked politely if they could send us up extra for the next morning. Unfortunately nothing appeared!! Its the small things that make all the difference when staying at a hotel and felt for the money we were paying our experience could have been better.
Enjoyed our executive room however the temperature was set to 23.5C degrees.. we wanted the AC on and had to call downstairs. The lowest it went down to was 22C. Bed was comfortable and room was big enough for us. The welcome soda/pop and snacks was a nice touch. They also provided water for us. There was one weird interaction at lobby when I was waiting for my partner to come in and decided to put my food down on a table and I was quickly asked to take it off and move elsewhere. I think it should've been handled more discretely with a nicer tone. The room’s coffee maker was not working which I did tell reception during checkout. Overall I would come back to Clayton hotel! 4.9/5
Hotel was really nice and bedroom and service on reception was great. The only negative feedback would be regarding the breakfast; the dining area stops serving breakfast at 11:00am, but at 10:15am most of the hot food had gone and was not being replaced; breakfast selection was very poor and could not see any fresh fruit or any continental options either - very dissapointed with the breakfast and would not book breakfast inclusive again as there are so many coffee shops nearby.
Big queue to check in and check in screens didn't work. Also had to wait nearly 10 minutes to get served at the bar. Biggest issue was the wait for the lifts on check out as kept bypassing our floor (8) and waited 9 minutes to finally get one (and had to go up and stop at every floor up and down before getting to reception!) Sadly this delay made it a rush to get my train on time.
The hotel was very good overall, and very well located. Two notes are that the water pressure could be better in the shower, and the programming of the lifts meant that there were queues on each floor at peak times. The bar area, although not used on this short visit, looked excellent. Would stay again!
Nice stay and staff were lovely. Easy check in and out. Rooms maybe slightly too warm at night but understand that is personal preference and a fridge would be convenient in the room.
Stayed for two nights with my partner. Hotel is clean, modern and centrally located.
Area around the hotel is rough enough so there’s a bouncer on the door from the early evening. We weren’t told about the requirement for all guests within the same room to carry a key. My boyfriend and I returned to the hotel around 23:00 and he was refused entry as only I carried a key out that evening. I would question if a female with a male partner would have received a similar level of questioning.
Receptionist was pleasant but advised we’d get a call from a manager within 5 mins but we had to call two more times before asking again for a manager the following morning.
Amazing stay - read some reviews about the rooms being small - they were actually pretty big and spacious. also requested a room one one of the upper floors and got a fantastic view. couldn’t find hairdryer in the morning and room service came within 5 mins with the hairdryer (even tho it turned out to be at the back of the cupboard)
