The volcano Barú is the highest mountain in Panama (3477m). It is possible to take a cab to approx. 1700m and hike the rest (13km). It takes around 5 to 6 hours to go up. When the weather is good you can see the Pacific and the Carribean. Even if tour operaters tell something different: you don't need a guide! It's long and steep but not difficult. tip: start at midnight (with a good lamp) so you can watch the sunrise.
Mi Jardin is the place to kick back, enjoy a cup of coffee, and savor the delicious view of the mountains. The coffee in this region is top of the line, gourmet quality. Besides the coffee & the view (reason enough, I know), Mi Jardin has an extensive garden, a koi pond, and small suspension bridge, just begging to be explored.
