The room was small but perfect for one person. It would have been nice to have at least a complimentary bottle of water. Also, there is no elevator on the property. This wasn't too much of an inconvenience for me since I only had 1 piece of luggage, but this could be a problem for those with a lot of large luggage and mobility challenges. The property is a short walk to the King's Cross-St. Pancras subway station. The hotel area is quiet but close to shopping area, food and cafes. I recommend this hotel for short trips.

The hotel room was small but I knew this before going and I only needed it as a base. It was clean and the bed was comfy. The only issue was the sockets were very loose and I struggled to charge my phone which wasn’t ideal but that is an easy fix for the hotel. Would stay again

The House of Toby was ideally located for a city break. The hotel staff were friendly and willing to go above and beyond for their customers. We would highly recommend this hotel for its central location. We were able to drop our suitcases off within minutes of being of the train at King Cross.

Hotel staff were really lovely and went above and beyond helping us up the stairs with the pram. The bathroom was lovely with fresh towels. Tea was good. Beds were comfy. Could do with a lick of white paint in some areas but that was minor. Good central location for us to get to the Eurostar. Early check out was no issue. Bar was helpful to get drinks. Netflix was a bonus on the tv. Enjoyed the eco body wash and had no reaction with sensitive skin ❤️

Nice enough but room was tiny.
Location good for Kings Cross. Place was nice enough but the room was super small. Had less than a foot either side of the bed. Room was clean and tidy though.

Don’t bother!!!
Was in G05 right next to the air handling units and the construction work. No chance of any sleep. If I was told prior to booking I’d have gone to the Point A hotel on the corner. Other rooms may be ok. But the ground floor ones out the back….don’t waste your money!

Horrific Noise & No Warning
Checkin on Friday night was swift, no mention of breakfast. We were directed to go out the back door to the courtyard to find our rooms in a separate annex next to the loud air conditioning units, not great but manageable. We were awoken by the construction on the site the other side of the bedroom wall, the jackhammer was less than 2 meters away and recorded 107db on my phone (if we worked there we’d have to be given noise defenders). No mention of this construction was made at checkin or anywhere around the hotel. At checkout no apology was given. If you know this is going to happen advise it on your hotel bookings, let customers know in checkin and in their rooms so they can make an informed decision!

A nice hotel with friendly staff in a good location for getting around London conveniently via St Pancras. A cosy room that had everything we needed. Perfect for a couple of nights.

Comfortable and quiet hotel
Very friendly staff and comfortable well-decorated and very clean room. The room is slightly on a small side, but that did not cause us any problem. The location, although close to St Pancras and King’s Cross is on a quiet side street, so had a peaceful night.

Comfortable and close to St Pancras
1 night stay on the 2nd floor, fyi there is no lift so with a heavy suitcase this could be a struggle, that aside, the staff were very friendly, polite and welcoming. Room was okay for a 1 night stay, a little small but pleasant enough, the bathroom could’ve done with a shelf for toiletries rather than on the floor but loved the waterfall shower and pleased with the optional handheld shower head Short walk to St Pancras/King's Cross station which was important.

Decent hotel. Horrible bathroom design.
Good location, pleasant staff, what you would expect from old London hotels- no elevator, narrow kinda stairs…. My only gripe which is major and a reason for me not to return is the bathroom design. I’m average size and just under 6 ft. I had to use the toilet sideways because my knees would touch the sliding door to the bathroom which was very close to the bed. Showering was awkward as well. For that reason only I would not return.

Small but perfectly formed! I would (will?)return.
I enjoyed my brief stay here. The room, across a small inner courtyard, was quiet, compact; comfortable bed, good shower. The man at reception was helpful, cheerful and welcoming. Breakfast (at extra cost) is continental and very fairly priced. WiFi reception a bit intermittent. The hotel is quite well situated: various convenient bus routes pass nearby.

An honest review
Reception was amazing. Extremely friendly! Rooms were clean but very small. Wasn't an issue as I was traveling solo and didn't need much. Pillows were flat and hard. Toiletries were multi use...ie. shampoo, body wash in one. No soap or conditioner. (Made my hair SUPER dry). Walls are paper thin. The guy next to me got a late night call and I could hear the entire convo. Other than that, it was nice and I would stay again. Very close to the train stations.

The stay was awful, the room stank of sewage and the toilet was unbearable. I asked for a new and told there wasn’t one. The receptionist knew there was an issue as he just left us standing there at check saying nothing and came back with air spray.l which he tried to hide at the bar. It was late so couldn’t find anywhere else to move. There was a leak at the back of the toilet with water and no plug for the sink. I would like some compensation and this was a health and safety concern and no help from the staff. Not his fault but not helpful.

First night in London
I was a little nervous booking a single. Some reviews complained about how small singles are. My room was certainly big enough for my one night stay - it may have become claustrophobic if I were staying there for a week, but I was just looking for a place to sleep. I did not come to London to hang out in my hotel room. The space seemed recently renovated - the bathroom was spacious enough and bright and shiny. Everything was designed for efficient use of space and I had a very good night's sleep. The staff was friendly and welcoming

Room was nice and quiet, bed comfy but the small is extremely small, I was on my own and struggled, because of this the walls are very scuffed plus the carpet wasn’t particularly clean. If you are obese you won’t get into the shower. Saying that, I wouldn’t be put off booking if the above doesn’t bother you.

Fantastic little gem
The House of Toby is a fantastic little gem of a hotel. Super close to kings cross, rooms were clean and modern styling. There was a heatwave during my stay and the Aircon made all the difference. Overall I had a fantastic stay and if I come to London again, this will be first on my list!
