Great traditional style hotel with an amazing bar. Friendly staff and convenient location. Only downside is it’s getting old and for some reason they put us in our 60’s right at the back on the 5th floor, which meant climbing narrow staircases to get to our room

They charged me for last night but said I could not stay the night never heard of this in my 40 plus years traveling the overflow valve did not work and yes the bath tub overflowed but this is not my fault so they did not provide the service then they charged a smoking fee because I was ao frustrated so anther 300 pound in addition to the charge for the eoom without letting me stay in it UNACCEPTABLE

Dear Scott, Thank you for your feedback, however, you are fully aware that your version of events is far from the whole truth. Yesterday, you fell asleep whilst intoxicated and let your bath overflow. The first we were aware of it, was when the guest in the room below informed us that they had vast amounts of water pouring through their ceiling and the fire alarm, sending it into activation mode. Upon investigating, our team found that you had also smoked in the room and instead of showing remorse were extremely rude and abusive (we have video evidence of you being abusive and swearing at our team). There is no issue with the overflow drain in the room; but an overflow drain will only deal with so much water and with the rate you were running the bath, no overflow drain would have coped. We asked you to leave the hotel, due to you being abusive to our team and also because you have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage in your room; our top suite, below your room; and even our Library (a floor below again!) Our repair bill will surmount to thousands and you are very lucky we have not charged you anymore at this stage. Furthermore, upon your departure, we found illegal drugs in your room, so given that you have illegal substances on your possession and contravened the UK smoking ban law. As you insist of clinging to these false narratives and slandering our hotel online, we are strongly considering reporting this case to the Police, especially as you were also being abusive and verbally violent to our team, which is also a crime! We have also reported your behaviour to Expedia, as no other hotel should ever be expected to deal with a guest such as yourself!

Stayed here one night in April. This is a clean, well maintained, but old fashioned hotel in an area of London that is a bit far from an Underground Station (15 min walk) - with the weather being rainy and a bit cold, I fell back on taxis, which added to the expense. Staff were kind. Amenities offered, such as dining, were rather expensive. I didn’t spend much time there, perhaps ten hours.

Regarding the location, we would like to clarify that we are actually only a 10-minute walk from three different Tube stations, providing convenient access to various parts of London. We are also only a 15-minute walk from a further two Tube Stations. We also have multiple bus stops within a 1-minute walk from the hotel, which provide access to routes that run across London. We apologise if there was any confusion regarding this matter and hope that it did not detract from your overall enjoyment. Whilst we would love to be able to control it, you must understand that the weather, unfortunately, is currently something that is beyond our control! We hope the typical London rain, did not distract too much fro your enjoyable visit! We are pleased that you found our amazing team to be kind and accommodating, as providing exceptional service is paramount to us. Your feedback regarding the pricing of our amenities and dining options is duly noted and we will continue to assess and refine our offerings to ensure they meet the expectations of our valued guests. We generally find that we offer exceptional value, when compared to other, similar London hotels! I don’t think I will ever stay at a different hotel in London. The location is convenient and walkable to all nearby museums and attractions. The decor and furniture are exceptional- very Victorian and eclectic. The hotel itself has a ton of history. The staff are SO accommodating - helping to facilitate an extended stay, make dinner reservations, provide recommendations, etc. I can’t wait to come back!

Located by “The Albert Hall” this is a lovely hotel that still holds that old world charm. The Gore’s bar is historic and welcoming. The bartender made a custom cocktail that was the finest I’ve tasted and recommended multiple places to visit that catered to our preferences. The restaurant is upscale class with a menu to match. The entire staff were fantastic. Hope to return next year.

As an Expedia VIP, you receive a welcome gift (bottle of Prosecco), which you received and a complimentary upgrade, which is very clear, is strictly subject to availability. While we strive to accommodate our guests' requests to the best of our ability, upgrades are subject to availability and may not always be possible, especially as the hotel was 100% occupancy on the night you stayed. However, our team should have provided a more empathetic and helpful response to address your concerns, and we apologise for any frustration this may have caused. We do not however, believe, they would have said that this "had nothing to do with them". We absolutely love the staff and property manager for their warm assistance throughout our yearly stays. Besides that, the hotel is a gem and quite historical. I would classify it as sumptuous, elegant, yet cozy and warm. Quite British which is exactly what we seek coming from New York. Treat yourself to a junior suite stay- so beautiful! And enjoy some quiet time in their glorious library room- it’s welcoming and relaxing!

It was fine. Fantastic location. Great colours. Nice library room. Lots of hidden extra charges. Didn’t make guests feel particularly looked after. Polite but not warm. Apart from fantastic guy who served us breakfast. Room very small. Not enough coffee sachets in room. It was perfect for proximity to museums and Royal Albert Hall, but nothing very special apart from that. Not terrible. Not great.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our fantastic location and the vibrant colours of our hotel decoration, as well as the ambiance of our Library. We strive to create inviting spaces for our guests to relax and unwind. However, we are sorry to learn that you felt there were hidden extra charges. Transparency is crucial to us, and we are unsure of exactly what you are referring to as we certainly do not hide any charges and you did not mention anything on check-out. We note that on departure you did ask for the accommodation service charge, so we can only assume you this is what you are referring to. The accommodation service charge at 5% is listed in all our terms & conditions and email confirmations, both directly and through Expedia. It is also noted on your registration card, which you signed upon check-in. The food & beverage service charge at 12.5% is also listed on all our menus and literature. Both service charges are a professional practices that are very common-place in the London hotel market. The food & beverage service charge is very established and the accommodation service charge becoming increasingly normal amongst London hotels. Both service charges go fully to the team and are entirely discretionary, should you wish not to incentivise our hardworking team. We shall have no issue whatsoever in removing them, as we did for you. We have made a note on your profile notes, so that in the future, you are not charged any service charges. We apologise if this aspect of your experience fell short. We will certainly review our communication to ensure that all charges are clearly presented to our guests. Your comment about not feeling particularly looked after is genuinely concerning, as providing excellent service and a warm welcome is our top priority. It is also in complete contrast to every other review we receive. We appreciate your acknowledgment of the fantastic service during breakfast and we will ensure your commendation reaches the team member involved. We are sorry to hear that your room size and the coffee sachet availability did not meet your expectations. Your feedback regarding these aspects is valuable as we continually work to enhance our guests' experience. We note you booked a Classic Double Room, which is our entry-level category. Generally, these are considered a good-size, when compared to entry-level rooms in other, similar London hotels. If you decide to return, we recommend booking a Deluxe Double or Junior Suite as these offer a lot more space and comfort. Absolutely stunning hotel in a very central location with plenty round it to explore. Hotel itself is an old building but tastefully updated with modern features too. The staff were so friendly too, they gave 5 stars every time!

Great location for the Royal Albert Hall (not more than 5 mins walk). We got a train to Waterloo and then a taxi - very easy, but easy tube as well. Rooms were immaculately clean and breakfast gorgeous. Also a lovely cocktail bar for after the show, although busy worth the wait.

There was zero heat in the middle of Winter in London. They had to bring 2 space heaters and had one up in the room already, so they knew the heat wasn’t working before my arrival. Then, the manager JJ said he would be refunding me for the first night, and I have had to call and email numerous times since 12/31 and nothing. Terrible.

It was disheartening to learn about the issues with the heating in your room and we understand the importance of a comfortable stay, especially during the winter. The issue was immediately resolved upon your departure by our Engineering team. We want to assure you that we take these matters seriously and (as explained) we have already processed the refund for the first night, on our side, as promised. However, we would like to inform you that since your reservation was made through Expedia and pre-paid via them, the processing time for refunds is determined by their policies and procedures and outwith our control. As we have explained previously and our Head Concierge Jimmy reiterated when he spoke to you last week (we are aware of you contacting us twice); the timeline for refunds can vary and unfortunately, it is not within our direct control. We understand your frustration and regret any delays you may be experiencing. Rest assured, we are actively following up with Expedia to expedite the processing of your refund , but past-experiences have told us that this does little in hurrying the process up. We appreciate your patience in this matter and want to assure you that we are doing everything in our power to resolve it as swiftly as possible. Lovely stay, we stayed in the beautiful Judy Garland Suite. Highly recommend. The service from the staff was fantastic. Being seconds away from Hyde Park was also a lovely treat. Well done all.

We stayed at the Judy Garland suite and it exceed our expectations, my fiancé was in love with the room and they even had the little red shoes in the room and her very own bed which was very comfortable, the hotel style and decorations is amazing and it’s an easy 2 min walk to the Royal Albert Hall just around the corner.

Our carpet cleaning contractor, has been booked this month anyway, due to it being a much quieter month than when you stayed in December, where there was little room in our occupancy to get such works done. With regards to the tiles, the issue you have mentioned is not mould, but actually just the age of the tiles. Subject to approval, we are hoping to embark on a bathroom refurbishment project this year, which will greatly improve the issues you have outlined. I am IN LOVE with The Gore. I will absolutely be back to stay here again, which I almost never do because I love to explore new things so know this is a testament to how great this place is. Our stay was such an amazing score for the price. It's gorgeous, historic, and comfortable; the staff were excellent (attentive, kind, generous); both the bar and the restaurant were delicious and worth it. Also the location is convenient and lovely. I can't wait to come back!
