I don't get it, there must be five hundred hotels like this in London, it's sort of a British specialty, skinny mattresses with protruding springs, dingy, not well cleaned, crooked doors with loose hinges, laminate flooring that looks like it was second hand when it was installed, lime scale encrusted sinks and showers and no consideration for grace or comfort at all. I wish that the people who owned these hotels, who obviously make a lot of money (I paid $300 for one night) had the desire to make the world a more beautiful place, instead of creating what is essentially a rentable slum. My room, for example, didn't even have a bed side table or reading lamp. There was literally nowhere to put my clothes, it was just a bed in a room with a weird shower unit in the corner. The only positive was the friendly staff. Would I go here again? Sadly, yes, because most of the less expensive hotels in london are just as bad -- shame on the landlords. They could easily make them nicer without incurring huge expenses but they simply don't care.

We do appreciate prices around London during FA cup games are high but at 129 for 2 guests on a Saturday night we are considerably less than any other hotel in the area. Convenient 10-15min walk to St Pancras station to catch trains. 20-25mins to Soho. Nice area. Rooms were a bit dingy and minimal, but one gets what they paid for. Just needed a convenient location to catch a train to Europe, so served its purpose

Clean towels and bedding, 2 mins away from Russel Station tube and area hotel in was lovely are the only good things. Unsuite was well lets say you couldn't move in it more like a cupboard, no where to hang any peice of clothing, no tea or coffee making facilities what hotel doesn't proved the basics budget or not. Needs alot of tlc as they clearly have not looked after the properly in places.

Very basic hotel. Facilities basically fine. If staying on a weekend, be prepared for loud drunks coming back in the early hours, shouting in the corridors, slamming doors, etc. Won't stay again.

Stayed at this hotel not once but twice in the same week as I went to Amsterdam in the middle of a stay. Would recommend if you are budgeting and just want a place to sleep. Workers are nice and helpful. Plenty of things to do around the area! (food, shopping, exploring)

This is a budget hotel. The facilities were very clean and the staff friendly, helpful and happy even though it was New Years Eve and they were working.

Very basic hotel, they provide nothing but a sheet and blanket and towel, that is it. Room was dirty when arrived and was never cleaned over a 7 day stay, carpet was so filthy I didnt want to put my bags on floor or walk inside room without shoes. Found a caterpillar stuck to the walls of my room, could tell it had been there for a very long time. Bathrooms equally horrid as were corridors. They need to not be so greedy with profits and try to put a little bit of profits into making the place livable. Minimal decor made it look like a prison cell. They only have 1 member of staff working at any time (odd) and he was not particularly helpful. Even writing this review makes me shutter with disgust!

Poor hotel needs updating and cleaning
1st room had a toilet leaking with sewage, wardrobes screwed shut, smelled damp. The room was in poor condition and not clean. 2nd room a little better, but not much. The pictures shown on the website are not the rooms in this hotel, this is the hotel next door.

Very poor value for very run-down, airless room.
Basement room, very tired decoration, no windows to open, radiators on full, tv faulty, only one light (out of 3) working, not especially clean, very over priced for such a run-down room and surroundings.. Poor.

rooms were horrible, heat either not working or making too hot, no hair dryer or microwave oven or any facility other than steel pipe beads, no bedsheet changed until you ask them to do, very old building with least maintained... horrible bathroom smallest bath, toilet sink i ever saw. not worth of money they charged. really disappointed from hotel and Expedia too.

Very helpful, attentive and friendly staff! The location of this hotel can’t be beat. However, the room was very cold and the spare blankets for the beds had been forgotten in a cupboard and were filthy. There was mold in the shower. This is a budget hotel to be sure, and I thought I had adjusted my expectations accordingly… turns out I didn’t. The Thanet next door (same owners) is a step up, but should be cheaper for what you get.

Horrible experience
I knew in the booking that the room did not include a bathroom but it was rated three stars, so I expected some minimal upkeep and functionality. Boy was I wrong. The way up to the 3rd story (without a lift) was not assuring me at all, but as I entered the room, the carpet had a distinctly unhealthy, dirty appearance and smell, that no amount of airing relieved. Also the bed, which seemed clean enough, groaned as I sat down, and turned out to be an ancient specimen with a thin mattress, enough to feel the metal springs underneath. The restroom was not very dirty, a little like a museum in mid day

I'm giving this review 3 stars. The hotel itself is located in an extremely good area of London. Dining, shopping and site seeing is all within a 10 minute walk, and if those aren't what you are looking for you can walk to a bus station <1 minute away or an underground station and go where ever your heart desires. Now the hotel. Well, that is another story. First off, the staff was very good. 5 stars for the staff. Our room though, No 1. was absolutely disgusting. Though the bed was made and the sheets were "clean," the linens smelled like mold/mildew/soured. My pillow was nothing more than a pillow case with stuffing inside of it. My wife's pillow was a sort of decorative throw pillow, very firm. The staff got us another pillow for her, which was a memory foam pillow. The bathroom had other peoples hair in it, had mold growing in it and when you showered, water splashed out of the shower onto the very slick solid surface floor because the curtain on the shower was about 12 inches too short. The room had spiders and cobwebs in the corners, the carpet/rug hadn't been swept or vacuumed in who knows how long. But we did have our own personal heater. The hot water was very hot and endless and we had good water pressure. Thankfully we did not spend much time during the day in the room, which was very tiny also. The room was also very quiet, as the area it is located in is very quiet. Would I stay there again? Maybe, but probably not.

WORST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED IN!!! Do not stay here, it is a health hazard, the rooms are filthy and in DESPERATE need of a renovation, the toilet was broken, unflushable and leaking when I stayed there, receptionist said they could do nothing about it, had to wait an hour and a half after checking in before even being able to go in the room as they were 'supposedly' cleaning it, pillows felt slimy, bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, TV had no remote and wasn't even tuned, no soap or toilet paper ready upon first entering the room so had to go downstairs and ask for it, the staff were unhelpful, cupboards and cabinets were nailed shut, lock on bathroom door wasn't working and had a screw jammed into it, WiFi wasn't working at all, made this issue apparent to the receptionist who rudely took my phone off me without asking and started messing around on it saying its because of the low battery and was instantly proven wrong by my friend who had a full battery with the WiFi still not working, lightbulb was missing from a light above the bed they wouldn't even give me a refund for all the issues I had, how the hell is this place even open? Hotel is run by morons who can barely speak English, this place should be shut down and forgotten about!

Inexpensive and convenient backpacker hotel for a one night stay on an extreme budget. Room was warm, bedding and towels clean, shower hot in the morning, staff friendly and helpful. It’s not a fancy hotel by any means, but it was value for money and I had a good night’s sleep.

A really poor experience
I guess they save the really poor rooms for "Hotels.com" customers as I cannot see how the room quality and the out of action shared toilets & showers could be worth the high price paid for the room. I truly hope I had the only really poor room and others got value for what they paid. I certainly will never darken their door again.

This is a very cheap hotel in a great location, and it is very cheap for a reason. Do not expect confort or cleanness. It is just ok to sleep have a shower and go and come back again just to sleep. That's it.

Overpriced and dirty
Online photos were very misleading. Paid £75 and the room was damp and dirty. Mystery stains on the walls/ceiling. Bathroom hadn’t been cleaned after previous occupant and still had some of their belongings in there. Advertised as eco friendly because there’s no plastic tea + coffee facilities but that’s only because there aren’t any tea and coffee facilities at all. Only positive is that the staff were friendly.

The room was all dusty, kept on sneezing the whole time. The room looked neat but there were cobwebs and dust couldn't sleep well. Couldn't open window for air too had to leave my door open. Overall service was good.
