The house was under construction-I was not notified until the morning of my arrival. No compensation was made in any way. The door to my individual room was hollow core with a security combination lock, but it was so warped that getting it closed AND locked at the same time was VERY difficult. Contractors were in from 8:30am to 6pm from when I arrived Friday afternoon and the next morning. Very uncomfortable to say the least—let’s not get into them smoking/arguing with each other—not something one looks for in any place they want to stay and be comfortable in. The toilet on the floor—shared between 3 rooms and 5 people was also unusable due to the construction, so all staying at the property (2 floors/7 people) were made to use the ground floor entry toilet with the world’s smallest sink and nowhere to put your toiletry bag....oh yeah, and that toilet was also shared with the construction workers.
The property will probably be nice once it’s finished with the construction, but I feel slightly ripped off—so much so that I didn’t even sleep there the 2nd of 2 nights. I packed up and went home at 1am rather than stay.
This booking should have been changed/compensated/cancelled, but to allow someone to stay with minimal notice and maximal disruption is disrespectful and NOT something this site (or the property owner) should be encouraging.I understand income is needed to help fund renovations, but let people know they’ll be staying at a construction site, not a hotel.
