"The view from the hotel room was stunning. The room size was spacious, immaculately clean with enough seating both inside and on the deck. The pool and outdoor area is also very nice. It’s a short drive into Begur town which is nice because the traffic inside the town is hectic. The only thing not perfect for us was the food at the restaurant - we ate there only once and decided to go elsewhere after that. It was a memorable stay."

We enjoyed being very close to a lot of restaurants, gelaterias, and walked around the town each night. It was also easy for us to drive to different parts of costa brava each day. "Wonderful hotel. Dinner on the outside Terrace was excellent. Super good service. The only issue is the two close beaches are VERY small. So they crowd up early. You can walk (20+ minutes each way) to the public beach at Aguia Blava which is large. Driving is easy to the beach, just a couple of minutes but the parking lot is full by 9:30am so you have to go early."

"We found Hotel Portbo to be a comfortable and welcoming place to stay in the beautiful Calella de Palafrugell. There is a friendly and accommodating staff, the accommodations were clean and well cared for, and the hotel is well-located only about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach and the center of town. The hotel does not have elevator, but the gentleman who checked us in was very kind to carry our bags to the third floor upon arrival and departure. Many reviewers praised the free daily breakfast, and I agree that it was a special treat! The buffet was outstanding, with an extensive selection of fresh, delicious foods which were beautifully arranged and were as delicious as they looked! Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and would heartily recommend Hotel Portbo to other travelers."

I wish someone had suggested we hike the nature trail heading north --- we did a quick run thru just before we left, and it is wonderful. Our stay in a castle (?fort? ?convent?) was wonderful. Lovely, peaceful and relaxing."
