There was NOTHING in the listing that said anything about being required to contact the property in advance for check in. "We arrived quite early and were greeted by friendly staff who did offer us the option of an early check in, as the room was ready, but for an additional fee. (If the room is already made up, this could have been waived). We passed on that and they were happy to look after our bags while we explored the harbour area. "Overall this was advertised as a ‘luxury’ property and priced as such. It is not. The hotel does not have a bar, a proper restaurant and the breakfast buffet was the poorest stocked we have seen in Iceland (including several outside Reyjavik). The spa area was unappealing. The room was overheated due to a overheated bathroom floor; with no temperature control gauge. The overall feel is that of a formerly grand hotel overtaken by time with a badly used furniture feel. I will never recommend it."

"Loved the location, the building was very clean inside and out. Lacking basic room amenities. No TV, radio, or anything anywhere in the building. Power outlets in weird locations. Wasn’t pleased that we couldn’t even enter the building until check in time, that definitely needs to be looked at for future customers with luggage. "

"Blinds in room weren’t installed properly so they let in a lot of light, which is an issue when it’s light out 24/7. Hallway was fairly loud in the morning and overall felt a bit dated. Nice staff and a good location, although can be loud facing the roads. great view"

"Convenient location to Hallgrimskirkja, shopping area and restaurants. Room is small, but clean with private bathroom. Checkin info provided in advance, no problem at all. P2 Street parking available, I dont have issue to find A spot close by. 9pm to 9am is free though. Didn't use kitchen. I didn't see one. But I didn't try to find it intentionally, so not sure it has one or not. Recommend."

"An interesting historic building with a multi-story central atrium. Well maintained with an excellent location. Great dining room & excellent breakfast offerings. Helpful front desk and breakfast as well as extremely courteous cleaning staff. Well located in the Old Town to access the waterfront, harbour, museums and restaurants. All and all an excellent choice for a stay in Reykjavik!"
