The room is kind of old but the breakfast included is nice. There was mistake that I can't get the family room which I reserved when I check in at the hotel. Over all is a good place to stay a night.

Kulmbach Comfort
I have stayed at this hotels many times now, as Astron, Achat or now Taste. It is perfectly placed for the town of Kulmbach, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfast is excellent. However, the hotel is showing signs of age and what used to be a 4* hot3el is looking more like a "lower-end" chain overnighter. The heart seems to have gone out of it!

Nice comfortable stay
The stay was great. Room was comfortable and clean. It’s an older hotel and a little worn, but that wasn’t a problem. The only problem I had was the lack of dinner options, but that was down to Covid restrictions and no fault of the hotel.

Under staffed
The hotel is under staffed, front desk run by one person almost all the time, there are no other staff. The cleaner hustle to get rooms turned around but there not seem to s system that connects which rooms are needed first. Probably will not stay here on my next visit.

Checked in at 2am to be told the system was rebooting and they didn’t know which room was free, offered my colleague and I a double room and to check back in 2 hours time. Obviously this wasn’t acceptable, and were given a key to a twin room in the hope that it was empty...not good st all

Not bad, but not good either
The hotel has good parking and decent rooms. The staff is mostly friendly, but one of them is smoking in the staircase and it smelled like smoke everywhere in the hotel but in the room. Breakfast was not available due to a business meeting or the like and no alternatives were given. Not very inviting atmosphere overall.

Good hotel - very poor service!
Front desk not friendly, room was located in noisy area, Clerk argued and did not want to remove a charge we paid in cash, extras more expensive than hotels in Paris and Amsterdam, employees not willing to work with customers.

Breakfast ripoff, outdated hotel
We came to the hotel where staff barely spoke English at the reception. We had 29 degrees C in the room, unbearable. There was no air conditioning in any of the rooms. I was upset when we received for two days breakfast for 2 people a 68 Eur charge. We have not been advised that breakfast needs to be paid extra and how much for instance. The restaurant next doors as part of the complex could not have a simplementation chicken dish on a menu :-/ Again, it deserves a BAD review as it has so many things to improve. It is still from early 70's.

Decent hotel is a small town in Upper Bavaria
The largest hotel in town. On the edge of town next to the City Park and about a fifteen minute walk from the center and the railroad station. I stay here when I attend the biannual Tin Figure Bourse. It has not changed in ten years. The atmosphere is modern. The people folksy. The breakfast if great but expensive. The kitchen is capable of making some delicious dinners. The food service is rather slow and careless. During the times that the hotel is filled they seem overwhelmed. Worst problem is that the hotel is not air conditioned. Few places in Kulmbach are. No restaurants. When it is needed as in August when I visited it is much missed.

Good quality hotel in small town.
We had two nights at this hotel. Quiet. Clean. Decent bathroom. Good quality breakfast. Ya boo sucks to Expedia who didn't get us a bed and breakfast rate and thus made us pay premium prices. But not the hotel's fault.

Odd place with a lobby that smells of cigarettes
We decided to leave our plans until the last minute, en route home from Austria, and Kulmbach seemed like a reasonable location in which to stop for the night. The hotel was easy enough to find and was only a 10-15 minute walk from the town centre. We were surprised to find that the whole of the hotel lobby (room with an atrium) smelled of cigarettes and wondered if the staff smoked in their office since we rarely saw anyone outside having a smoke. The hotel was large and mainly empty and the hallways have that somewhat creepy lighting system, where you have to stop every 15 meters to turn on another hallway light to see where you're going (the lights are on a timer and turn themselves off). The room was a good size and faced out onto the car park. (At 6.30 the next morning, that meant that had front row seats to hear all of the Italians navigating getting onto their tour bus for half an hour.) WIFI was 10 Euros per night or free in the lobby, so we opted to go back into the smoky lobby to check emails and plan the route for the next day. A wander into the town proved a bit odd. Flags hung from most buildings advertising the local beer, Kulmbacher, but there was almost no one in sight, despite it being a Thursday evening. Found a couple of sad looking pubs and restaurants and finally decided to try Zunftstube - nice, cheap, homely food. One highlight was finding a good gelateria with fab Pistachio ice cream.

Convenient for touring Oberfranken
Spacious, clean room I and excellent daily breakfast buffet. As in most such hotels, there is no air conditioning , but opening the window was sufficient. To keep us cool. Perhaps the management might consider installing insect screens on the windows, since we did have some nocturnal winged visitors. Excellent location in Kulmbach , an easy walk to all attractions. It was also an easy drive to Bayreuth, Cronach, Bamberg and Coburg, all of which we visited during our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

OK Hotel
This is an old hotel in need of a serious update. The fact that it has no air conditioning makes me wonder 'what if' it would've been Summer instead of Spring. Not sure why it is promoted as a 4 star hotel when it's clearly not. Otherwise, it was an OK hotel for a single night.

Nice hotel, centrally located.
Overall, this hotel is one to which I would return. The room was clean and nice. Only two things I would suggest: 1) have those who smoke step a bit further away from the lobby. The cigarette smoke permeates the lobby and is noticeable in the hallway. 2) We were placed in a handicapped room without being told. I think we should be informed upon check-in that we were in a handicapped room, especially in this one where there was no shower stall per se, and the water went all over the bathroom floor. I didn't care for mopping the floor after showering. Breakfast not included, which would've been nice.

Good place to stay - business or pleasure
Not perhaps fully 4 star in terms of comfort/facilities, rooms are good sized with all essentials in place, very clean and well serviced each day. Excellent breakfast buffet and good evening meals served until midnight (late opening and set menu for Festival period). Quibbles - coffee machine in room but only one coffee pod/teabag provided for whole stay. Powerful shower but plastic shower screens. Aircon in room but no cooling (temperature was in high 20s but rooms hot). Plenty of parking, wifi throughout hotel and convenient for motorways.

Clean, modern, well run hotel near Bayreuth
we stayed two nights while attending the Bayreuth opera festival. The rooms were clean, with new carpeting. Excellent free wifi throughout the facility and an excellent breakfast included. Plenty of parking.

Great location and rates
A very comfortable and affordable hotel within walking distance of the sights and stores in Kulmbach; very handy to Bayreuth, Kronach and Coburg, all of which we visited. My only small concern was that the air conditioning was not very responsive on a warm night. Opening the window solved this problem. I have stayed here many times and will do so again.

We covered just under a 3000 Mile tour and stayed at many hotels en route. Without doubt the Achat provided excellent reception, a very good ground floor well situated room, superb evening meal, wonderful nights sleep and a first class breakfast. Every member of Staff that we encountered was very pleasant, courteous and most spoke very good English. Our account for the one night stay was by far the best value and we have no hesitation in recomending the Achat. The highlight of our stay at the Achat was my wife sighting a black squirrel in the hotel garden.

Hotel ACHAT in Kulmbach
This was a nice, clean hotel in a very safe area. The food in the restaurant and room service were great. The Marketplatz, restaurants, shops, and train station were within walking distance. This is a very picturesque area. Hotel staff are multilingual.

I stayed at the AChAT in Kulmbach in 2008 and 2009 while attending the Bayreuth Festival (about 20 minutes drive). The hotel is comfortable, clean and very good value for the price. The staff are fluent in English and very helpful. The hotel is within an easy walk of the center of Kulmbach and Plassenburg castle, ans a number of other centers are close by for day trips.

Traditionelle Gemütlichkeit mit Herz
Herzlicher Empfang der Chefin. Das Zimmer sehr sauber und großzügig. Die Betten sind bequem und wir haben super geschlafen. Wir bekamen ungefragt ein kostenloses Upgrade auf eine Suite. Diese Wertschätzung und Gastfreundlichkeit erlebt man nicht alle Tage. Die Chefin kümmert sich mit Herz um ihre Gäste und man fühlt sich sehr willkommen. Das Frühstück ist ausreichend und frisch. Das vier-Gang Abend Menü sehr lecker und von hoher Qualität. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Es fährt ein hauseigener Shuttleservice direkt vor der Tür zur fünf Minuten entfernten Piste. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können diese Unterkunft von Herzen weiterempfehlen.
