Quiet, lovely hotel.
We extended our stay from 3 days to 7 at this hotel. We loved Koh Lanta so much, we enjoyed the quiet beaches, quiet streets and kind people. The service was so great, we had everything we needed very quickly. The wifi and air conditioner were great and the food at the restaurant was really good. The pool was also nice to sit at during the day. The hotel is not busy at all but the staff always seemed busy cleaning and helping the residents that were there. I would love to come back and stay here again one day.

Worst experience ever!
A long-time Expedia user and a global traveller, this is by far the worst hotel experience i've ever had. We paid a huge amount of money for airport transfer. And the hotel sent us a driver who fell asleep while driving! We almost had an accident because he could not drive within the lane! Had to watch him for 2 hours from the mirror so he doesn't fall asleep again. When told the hotel owner about this, he did not even say "sorry". The hotel is totally different than what it promises to be on the Expedia website. First of all, it is quite old and dirty. Our room floor was not clean when we arrived. There's a 40-year old safe in the room, which is not usable. The bathroom was horrible. One night we had a difficulty turning on the water in the shower, the next the hotel was out of hot water! Staff is quite unhelpful. No English, and no manners! I strongly recommend not staying at this hotel. For this price, you can do MUCH better.

We has a pleasant stay. However, a few places of improvement needed would be the cleaning of private pool. Bedding to be changed as the bed has become too soft. Pillows were too soft as weĺl.

We stayed here for 2 weeks on our Honeymoon and loved the resort! Despite it needing a bit of small maintenance improvements we were so very impressed with the loveliness and helpfulness of the staff! A special cheers to Sorn, Wee, Pla, Sol, the crazy-fun bar staff and the beautiful girls in the resort restaurant. The buffet breakfast was delicious and different every morning. Thankyou so much for making our Honeymoon so happy Pilanta! 😊

Stay away from this place. I saw mixed reviews before we stayed here so I thought it would be a decent place especially for the great price I was getting add it was the off season. Before we arrived I tried arranging a taxi from the airport but no one that answered the phones spoke any English and my emails got ignored. We arrived to a hot and smelly room, the sheets were dirty and stained so I asked for them to be switched, they switched them with other dirty sheets. The jacuzzi was broken so we asked to switch rooms, they put us in another room that smelled the bathroom had mold in it, the soap dispensers were disgusting and the sheets were dirty and ripped. I will never stay here again and hope that no one else will until they fix their place up and vamp up their service.

All the hotel looks like an abandoned place. Like someone forgot everyone there. Don't know what the manager though when he places a worker that don't know English in the reception. We came to the hotel and the jacuzzi wasn't working, so they upgraded us to a better room with private pool in the size of a pond, looks disgusting. The jacuzzi was still somewhat broken. Then I noticed a cockroach but decided not to complain after a long day. But in the night I heard noises and didn't fall asleep all night until I saw a mouse looking at me from the ceiling. We moved again at the middle of the night, and the guy from the hotel that helped us move said I imagine the mouse. Disgusting! I still had a sleepless night. Just STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely not a 4* Resort
We stayed there for New Year and were very disappointed with the hotel. It is sold as a little paradise (we booked a room with a plunge pool) but it is far from it. The hotel staff are very friendly but they just don't have the tools to make your stay pleasant. Walking to the beach is about 10 to 15 min walk through a jungle-like passage that can be full of mud after a rainy day. The best of the hotel is the restaurant in front (which is not part of the hotel); delicious and very inexpensive - totally recommended.

Old over priced hotel.
We stayed in a room with spa bath but it didn't work. Balcony had cigarette butts on the floor of it. Television had very few channels and we have young children so unable to stay out late. Worst of all was the service at check in/out. Carried own luggage to room. At check out, tried to pay a 800 baht bill for (terrible) for only to be told cash only for transactions under 1000! And closest ATM in the town a good 5 minute car journey away. No flexibilty on this even after we reminded them about the broken spa bath! No signage up to prep warn about cash under 1000 baht. Infuriating!

Great price, great service, great hotel
What a fantastic little hotel in Georgetown. Has everything that you need. Great room, great breakfast, lovely shower and a cosy swimming pool. A pretty good location for exploring George town and getting around the city. The price of this hotel makes it very difficult to beat on value. Will stay here again on my next visit and will probably look at other Glow hotels in Bangkok now.

Very nice room
Very nice hotel. We stayed in the honeymoon suite. The room was very nice but the plunge pool was not clean so did not feel it was clean enough to swim in or use. The daily cleaning service was not bad but we did you use a couple of spoons which they did not clean was just left in the sink also when they made the bed my Night clothes where thrown on the side rather than put on the bed nicely that could be me just being picky, Apart from this minor things the room was very nice and the hotel also was very nice good breakfast with plenty of choice, Friendly and helpful staff,

Overall a pretty average stay, staff were friendly and helpful however room was not up to the standard we were expecting. The private pool, bedroom and bathroom were pretty dirty and falling apart. Plus no toilet paper or tea in our room. The restaurant across the road is HIGHLY recommended however, not part of the hotel. The food is to die for and cheap.

Good hotel, staff are excellent. Good pool facilities, rooms are getting a little bit dated and air conditioning was a little odd. Good sized room however with big bathroom. Staff are friendly and accommodating, location isn't on the beach and is without an ocean view - however hotel is clean and spacious. Overall was a good stay with easy access to Saladan.

Nice hotel, with everything you need!
Stayed in a spa deluxe room for our visit in December '14. The staff were very friendly and endeavoured to provide us with everything we requested; booking tours, airport transfers and bike hire for us, Breakfast was great, with an egg station and fresh pancakes upon request. Room was clean, private pool was clean and bathroom was clean. It isn't located on the beach front, but it is literally just up the road! Loved the openness of the whole place, and the fact there is a bar next to the pool! Had a great experience at Pilanta, and Koh Lanta is definitely high on my recommendation list for anyone that scuba dives!

In the middle of nowhere. Nothing around. Room had a musky smell. Found a giant cockroach in the room. We paid for 4 nights. We lasted 1 night and we checked out. On the plus, the member of staff who checked us in was really nice.

We booked this hotel pass Expedia.com easy and great service. This hotel quite good but not face to beach you can walk around 10 minute to beach. You can take motorcycle (for 4 passengers) to market 100 Bath per 1 ride. Restaurant opposite hotel price ok big plate.

The resort is very clean and comfortable. Our room was very comfortable, with a huge bathroom and a plunge pool in a private area behind. The staff was excellent and helped us rent scooters for our tour around the island. The resort restaurant served ok food but the restaurant across the street is amazing.

It was a last minute booking at a significant discount to the headline rate so it was a good value for money. Very helpful stafff though on occasions they could have been proactive. The beach was only 10 minutes walk away. We definitely go back given the price we paid.

Great service!
Being high season and a last minute booking we were only able to stay one night. They didn't have the type of room we requested so we got an upgrade which was of course wonderful :) The staff were always courteous and helpful. They arranged transfers for us, helped with booking a tour even though pick up would be from a different hotel the next day. Overall just a lovely experience. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious modern bathroom, even a private spa-pool at the back of the room. Although not right on the beach it is a short distance away. It always is on Koh Lanta.

Overall Positive Experience
The staff were definitely what made the experience so positive. They were so genuinely friendly and helpful. The room lost power when it was storming outside and the wifi was not the greatest but the room was comfortable. Pool area was beautiful. Very quiet area of the island. I would recommend this hotel to others especially for the exceptional service from the staff.

Pilanta stay may 2013
The hotel was way up north and too quiet, we arrived during off season and other hotels in south seemed populated except for ours. The staff were excellent and very prompt so service was great, the rooms are huge and our pvt pool was well maintained, however, some lights didnt work inside the pool but they made up by placing nice candles. Value for money however a bit far from the buzzing resorts.

We stayed at Pilanta for 4 nights at the end of a 5 week SE Asia vacation...it was far and away the best place we stayed...if youve read other negative reviews about this place...disregard...it is a very nice place with nice staff...incredible buffet breakfast.

Lousy hotel, disappointing vacation overall.
The hotel pool was disgusting and our plunge pool in our "suite" was even worse. We had to get a taxi to get to a nice beach. The rooms were dated, linens and towels were ancient and we had to repeatedly ask for more for the 5 people in our family. There was not enough hot water, not even enough soap! The water was undrinkable yet the hotel charged for bottled water from the mini-bar. Breakfast was unappetising, the staff attempted good service but did not have tools to even come close to meeting our expectations. The tour bookings coordinator was very pleasant, but he put us on a snorkelling trip that crammed 40 ppl onto a boat without enough equipment for everyone! At least we got some of our money back. The island of Koh Lanta is not particularly attractive but if you do choose to go, travel further south along the island and you will find better deals and prettier beaches.

This hotel was very average. But cleaning could be alot better. Dead mosquitos all over the walls in our room and our room was almost not cleaned at all over our 1 week stay. They say you get 2 water bottles for free every day, we did not get water three days of our stay. And the diving pool is not a diving pool. Just a small pool with a sign that says no jump in pool, so I would not call it a diving pool. But it was okey when the water was running, it stopped running three times. Then it was not as nice... The restaurant across from the hotel is awesome and I recommend it to everyone. The A/C was not working in the Gym room wich made it alot harder to work out more then 15minutes. But the pool and the bar were nice. Breakfast was good. Mai Tai was very good at the bar :)

Pilanta Spa Resort - Look Elsewhere!
My boyfriend and I stayed here over NY's 2011. In general we LOVED Koh Lanta and would go back in a second...just not to Pilanta for any price. We booked late and panicked and just grabbed this place as even tho it wasn't on the beach as we were afraid everything else was booked up (not true). We were willing to splurge a bit as it seemed to be a luxury hotel and so decided to spend the extra money and go for it. What a mistake. I should have listened to my gut instinct but didn't really find any reviews that confirmed my hesitation (which is why i'm taking the time to write this now). The property itself is fine and nice enough, same goes for the rooms. But the location is awful!! I had a hard time figuring out exactly where it was located before we left. Partly because the "Location" section of their website doesn't load (it still does not...that tells you something right there...they don't want you to know where they are located). And second, it actually says on their website that they are just down the road from Klong Dao Beach, which is TOTALLY mis-leading. In fact they are near Kaw Kwang Beach which is rocky, narrow, has funky access and is very unappealing compared to every other beach we saw on the island. No one was even on it.... definitely not the deserted beach of your dreams. Klong Dao Beach is the next Beach south and it is great. But to get there you have to either walk 5 minutes down the road to Kaw Kwang, turn right and walk another 10-15 minutes and then cut through a jungle area and then arrive at the north end of Klong Dao Beach OR drive from Pilanta back to Ban Saladan and then south and enter from there. Either way, its def not easy access to a nice beach. The property is actually in a very odd area that really has no appeal. Enough said. The staff was gracious and friendly, the breakfast buffet mediocre but not bad (we had much better for much less in our hotel in Bangkok). But they were not very accomodating and if you didn't have a scooter (luckily we did) they would charge to drive you into town...you would think given their location and the prices they charge they would go out of their way to accommodate you. And speaking of, we enquired about doing some laundry and they would have charged $35 for a small bag of laundry...we found a bunch of other placed close by that would do it for about $3-$4. That pretty much sums it up... my net net of Pilanta Spa Resort is that it thinks its a resort, and charges rates as such but the payoff is not there. We could have stayed dozens of other places for much cheaper, that had more character and most importantly whose locations were stellar in comparison and actually on a beach. Look elsewhere!!

We loved the Hotel, it is very clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. The equipment of our room was excellent and very modern. We could also rent a motorbike for 24 hours. Town is very close to the hotel either we walked or we took the motorbike.
