"The hotel is so nice. Dinner and breakfast ere fantastic. Food looks small but very filling. Staff are so polite and friendly. Hotel has free shuttle bus to take guests to the major interchanges. I could stay there for a week just to explore the surroundings and enjoy the hotel services."
"We had a lovely experience staying in Sakuya hotel. The owners were very kind and helpful, offered us shuttle van to go to town. Offered us private onsen which was very relaxing. Rooms were futon bed with a view of Mt Fuji, breakfast was so yum. Would definitely come next time. "

"The room was very clean, but very small. We forwarded our carry on luggages and check in luggages to Kyoto from Tokyo (we were only in Fujikawaguchiko for 2 nights and just packed enough for 3 days/2 nights in our backpacks to hold us over). If we had our luggages, the room would've been way too small. At the end of the day, we were only at the hotel to shower and sleep and it was more than adequate. Slippers, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels, hair combs, and green tea/hojicha tea were provided. The staff was very friendly and the included breakfast was AMAZING. The curry and potato soup were so good and we loved the shine muscat grape jelly!! This hotel breakfast actually beat our ryokan breakfast. It's a close walk to the bus stop, but there wasn't much to walk to in the area except for a handful of restaurants and a Lawson."
"Exceptional view to Mt Fuji from the roof terrace and from some bedrooms. Very helpful and polite staff. The breakfast is not great but is ok. Surprisingly, the hotel restaurant is near the station (15 min walk) but this is ok because the hotel provides transport. The food there is very good. Overall, I would stay in this hotel again."
"Staffs are helpful and friendly. One staff even help my wife to carry her luggage down the staircase as she was walking along the same way. Room are clean. We have a pleasant stay at the hotel. "
"Staying at Wakakusa no Yado Maruei was a memorable way to experience a traditional ryokan. The absolute highlight was the food—both dinners and breakfasts were outstanding, with each meal beautifully presented, creative, and completely different across our three days. Every bite felt like a special occasion, and the attentive, gracious service made the dining experience truly exceptional.
The overall service throughout our stay was excellent as well—warm, thoughtful, and seamless in a way that made us feel truly cared for.
The room itself was interesting and authentic, but less about comfort and more about tradition. As a side sleeper, I found the futons a bit too firm, and during the day, with the beds put away, there wasn’t really a cozy spot to relax. That said, the setting and atmosphere make up for it if you’re looking for a cultural experience rather than a plush stay.
The complimentary shuttle to and from the train station was also a helpful touch. Overall, this ryokan is perfect for those wanting to immerse themselves in Japanese tradition and enjoy some of the best meals you’ll ever have."
