"The hotel has been recently rebranded and is undergoing extensive renovations. The bits they've finished, like the rooms and the dining room, are new and shiny. The room itself was comfortable. It's close to the town, which has good izakaya and other options if you're not on a meal plan. There is also a Lawson close-by. "The hotel experience was awesome and the staff could not have been nicer. Beautiful lobby with garden view and appreciated the welcome drink from the bar. The room was spacious with a lovely bathroom. Decoration was truly Japanese, with tatami mats and sliding doors. The room provided appropriate clothing for the onsens…yukata, obi, sandals etc. The onsen was modern, spotless and spacious, with both inside and outdoors areas, the later made of large rocks. The shuttle service to other onsen areas and to and from the train station was an added plus."

"We had the supreme Japanese room and it was spacious. Two large rooms for a large family or more space for two people. There were two bathrooms and a shower. The bed mattresses were on the floor and they were comfortable. It felt like staying at a traditional ryokan with modern amenities. Breakfast was traditional Japanese too and it was tasty and filling. The staff is always there to help and they are very polite. I’d definitely stay there again."

"Had a really wonderful trip to Miyazu, and my stay at Hotel Kitanoya was truly the highlight of the trip and one of the best decisions I made. As this was my first time staying in a ryokan and trying a kaiseki dinner, the experience exceeded all my expectations. The room was very comfortable, clean, and spacious for two people even with our large luggage. The private open-air onsen in the room was definitely the best part of the stay. It was incredibly relaxing and made the whole ryokan experience feel extra special. The kaiseki dinner was also beautifully prepared and delicious, making it a very memorable first experience. The entire ryokan had a peaceful, quiet, and calming atmosphere that made our stay even more enjoyable. Service from the hotel staff was excellent. Everyone was warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout our stay, which made us feel truly welcomed and well taken care of. As for the location, we were self-driving during our trip in Japan, so I cannot comment much on the convenience for those relying on public transport. However, if you are driving, getting around is very convenient. I would definitely recommend Hotel Kitanoya to anyone visiting Miyazu, especially for those looking to experience a traditional ryokan stay. Would love to return again in the future!"

"Rooms are a bit dated but super clean and well maintained. Staff was awesome, and the breakfast was one of the best I've had at any hotel in Japan. Location is fairly remote, but extremely peaceful, and there are free shuttle busses into Toyooka. Onsen was pretty good and clean. If you are looking for a relaxed time away from the typical tourist bustle, I can highly recommend this hotel. Most guests were elderly and extremely friendly, and it was completely silent at night."
