- Liked: Staff & service, amenities
It's acceptable for its price point, with good airconditioning and (somewhat) clean toilets. Wifi is slightly weak. And the room door lock is too flimsy so security is definitely a concern

HOOD - Hostel is located in Kota Kinabalu's Downtown Kota Kinabalu neighbourhood. Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal and Sutera Harbour are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those in the mood for shopping can visit Gaya Street Sunday Market and Imago Shopping Mall. Check out an event or a game at Likas Stadium, and consider making time for Anjung Samudera, a top attraction not to be missed.Visit our Kota Kinabalu travel guide
HOOD was very clean and felt pretty safe. We stayed in a private room and it was comfortable enough. There are a lot of shops and restaurants around and you can walk to just about anything in central KK. The pillows were a little uncomfortable, but its a hostel, not a hotel. My biggest complaint is that the wifi was so slow and unreliable to be almost completely unusable. There are coffee shops nearby with fast wifi. Also be warned that the front desk staff are not always there, so if you want to check in you may need to call them (the front door is locked, you get a key once you check in). All in all, a great place to stay if you have a local mobile phone.
