"Our kids dubbed this place a “home-tel” and I think that’s fitting. It is kind of like home, but also a hotel. The Beachwoods Resort is a really great spot to vacation with kids while in the Outer Banks. It is a wonderful alternative to a traditional beach house, blending some of the luxuries of a nice hotel with the additional bonus of resort-like amenities. You’re tucked into a serene wooded area, but within a mile of the beach. Which, by the way, you have access to a private beach parking lot, included with your room’s rate. Additionally, you’re in close proximity to Walmart, Target, and Publix for miscellaneous snacks and items you may want/need to grab after arriving! We frequented a slew of great restaurants, coffee shops, and ice cream spots all within 10 minutes of the resort.
The rooms are exceptionally clean, and stocked with all of the things you’d need during your stay. Just a quick text to the front desk, and more of whatever you need (fresh towels, TP, etc) is delivered to you. The indoor and outdoor pools are spectacular! We used them daily. The fitness center exceeds most hotel gyms. There is a washer/dryer available with each unit. This is life changing when traveling with littles. Not only did this save me from returning home to a mountain of laundry, but it simplified packing knowing this was available ahead of time.
Negatives: Our room had several centipedes, likely due to the humidity and wooded location.
Overall: We would recommend this property!"
"If you’re looking for the perfect dog-friendly getaway in the Outer Banks, I can’t recommend the Sanderling Resort enough. The entire experience feels peaceful, upscale, and incredibly welcoming, especially for dog owners.
One of the best parts is the private beach access, where you can spend the entire day relaxing with your pups. The resort sets up umbrellas and lounge chairs for you, making it so easy to settle in and just enjoy the ocean breeze together. It honestly feels like a luxury beach day designed for both humans and dogs.
The property itself is absolutely beautiful, bright, clean, airy, and incredibly well-maintained. Everywhere you look has that calm coastal vibe that instantly puts you at ease. The rooms and common spaces feel fresh and inviting without being stuffy.
The restaurant on the property is also top-notch. Great food, great atmosphere, and such a nice bonus when you don’t feel like leaving the resort.
If you truly want to disconnect, recharge, and have a relaxing vacation with your dogs, this place is 100% worth it. It’s one of those rare resorts that actually delivers the peaceful getaway experience it promises."
