It is now called Ruskin's View after John Ruskin an influential English critic, social theorist, painter and poet, who was so impressed by the picture, that he was inspired to eulogise: ‘I do not know in all my own country, still less in France or Italy, a place more naturally divine’
A particularly beautiful church. I love it's proportions. It is wide & low. The oldest parts are Norman. Three doorways and the inner north arcades date from the early 12th century, and the base of the tower and the south arcade are from the later part of that century. It has undergone many further developments through the centuries but certainly lost none of it's charm.

A really beautiful little town, plenty of nice shops and restaurants and the cherry on top is nearby Ruskins View with a lovely walk along the river Lune down to Devils Bridge.

A lovely market town ideally located for the Dales and Lakes as well as home to the famous and beautiful Ruskin's view. Plenty of lovely shops and places to eat and drink. Everyone we met was so genuinely friendly and warm.
