This property if absolutely gorgeous. Although our room wasn't IN the castle, it was a very nice room. There were a few disappointments.
First, we had dinner at Hermione's. I'd skip it and try the pub at the end of the road that you'll pass on the way in. The staff at Hermione's was snooty and had an heir of importance that way surpassed the quality of food and experience that you get. It's a glorified golf course restaurant. The other issue is that upon check in, there was no explanation of the grounds, things to do/see, etc. It was if they couldn't get us in our room fast enough. It's a castle for heaven's sake. People who book here want a castle experience. When I asked about being able to explore the castle or grounds, I was told that I can sit in the Keep or go to the bar. Um...that's not getting any type of castle experience. I was also told to scan a QR code. I could understand if there was a line of people checking in, but it was just us. It would've been nice if the staff took some time to make us feel welcome and excited about the stay. There's a story about a monkey, that I only knew about because of a review I read on a FB site. I had to ask the staff about it. Maybe I was too excited to stay here and that's why I was disappointed. I should've just regarded it as any other hotel stay.
Although the location is gorgeous, not doubt about it, our stay was less of the experience I was hoping for. It was just a pretty room that we slept in.
