"For an overnight layover on the way down the country, this hotel was adequate. If you're thinking of staying here for more than one night.. think again! The room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom could have been stocked a bit better. One small bar of soap and one toilet roll. The bar and 'restaurant' had the feel of a cafe. No tablecloths and a single laminated menu card with limited choice. Breakfast was sufficient and varied. The staff however.... Maybe it was...

"Nice basic place to stay. It's a pity there is no vending machines for snacks and drinks or even ice. It was quiet during the night. Shower was very good. I stayed when we were having a heatwave so the room was extremely warm day and night. The fan provided did help thank you"

"It was a nice property overall, but our room reeked of cigarettes, now my clothes also smell of cigarettes :-( We booked a second room for the rest of the family and that was much nicer. Helpful staff, nice restaurant with a delicious breakfast. Beautiful sunset over the restaurant terrace."

"The B&B is definitely the best in my experience. Bedroom as well as bathroom are very clean and tidy. The paper folders in bathroom is antique-wise. Also electrical equipments are convenient and cool. Coffee server and fridge are stylish. Lights are well designed. Breakfast is delicious and plenty. Graham’s homemade jams are excellent. "I have stayed here several times now. On arrival had a long wait to be checked in. Nobody was on reception. When they finally turned up there was no apology for the wait. Room as expected but I thought this time it was looking very tired. Badly chipped paintwork. Dirty marks on carpet. A stone from a fruit from previous guest on floor. Bathroom was in need of refurbishment. New silicone and definitely a new shower tray. The silicone was particularly dirty. Bed was comfy and clean. Fan was...

"Great location for us. Very friendly staff. The heatwave was too much for the AC and our room was not as cool as we like and the bed was very firm. A good value however."

"Staff were very efficient and friendly. I have disability, someone had parked across the space outside and I let reception know. The disabled spaces need repainting as they are very worn. Bar staff very good, we didn't use restaurant. Lovely bathroom. Bed comfortable. Wardrobe doors creaked very badly, maybe some WD40 on the hinges would help! Good view. Lovely hotel and we enjoyed our stay and will be returning.Very happy with our short break here at the Royal."

"This cellar apartment is a very cool place to stay. Our hosts were very welcoming and provided helpful information regarding the area and getting around. Very nicely renovated with a well equipped kitchen, the apartment suited our needs perfectly. The bathroom was large with a great shower. It was very comfortable and quiet which made for an excellent night's sleep."

"Lovely clean rooms set in a lovely hotel with beautiful surroundings. Carpark had plenty of space. The pub/restaurant was fantastic. One of the best steaks I’ve had. I was impressed by the wine list as it had plenty of choice of fantastic wines. Only downside was they stopped serving drinks at 10pm. Much too early to shut shop after you’ve been in the restaurant all evening. Other than that, we were satisfied."

"We had a great one night stay at Berwick Lodge on a a Monday to celebrate a birthday. The sun shone and the Housemartins flew happily around whilst we sat on the terrace having a cocktail. The à la carte menu was fantastic - well worth the cost and breakfast was very tasty. Will definitely stay again in one of the other fantastic looking rooms."
