Even if it's not exactly 5-star accommodation they are making a good effort to cater to the needs of westerners. The restaurant has plenty of ambience and again the staff is friendly but the service is slow (this is endemic in Zanzibar though) and the breakfast selection is quite basic. "I stayed one night, next morning the smell of sewerage from the bathroom drain was horrendous. I left the hotel immediately . The stairs to the top floors are steep & dangerous . Not a pleasant experience ."

"This is the absolute best place for those looking for inexpensive stays.The staff was very nice, as were the other guest. It was very clean. No dirt, bugs, spiderwibs or anything else. Great location. 100m from the beach; 150m from Summer Beach restaurant, which has nice vibes, comfy chairs, a pool and wifi. The wifi in the hotel was the only issue, as it didnt work when got back in the evening, but for the price ($23USD), it's the best value i've stayed at anywhere around the world. "

"Safari House had plenty of space for our family of five. While not in the heart of Stone Town, it wasn't a far walk (10 min) to get there. Romaine, our host, was quite accommodating. The power and water shut off in the morning and he was over immediately to fix it (we didn't realize it was on a timer and was an easy fix). He also allowed us to store our luggage there after checkout time while we went out for a bit before our flight home. "
