Nestled up in the north-east Finland lies Kuhmo. The sleepy town is great jumping off point for many outdoor activities including dog-sledding, cross-country skiing, wildlife watching and even winter rapids floating (http://www.hecktictravels.com/rapids-floating). In the summer the town hosts the Chamber Music Festival which attracts about 40,000 visitors.

Kuhmo, Finland is the only place in the world that offers such an excursion where you can float down Class II rapids while bundled up in layers of fleece under a survival suit. It's adrenaline-pumping fun!
