Wadi Rum featuring camping, a gorge or canyon and night scenes
Discover ancient UNESCO-listed cities, mesmerizing historic monuments, pink mountains and sunny seaside resorts in this famously hospitable Middle Eastern country.

The perfect destination for adventure seekers and culture lovers, Jordan is full of exhilarating experiences. It has been depicted time and again in novels and films due to its stunning historical monuments and well-preserved ancient cities. Mingle with its famously friendly locals and go diving in the gorgeous coral reefs off the coastline.

Visit the “Rose City” of Petra, Jordan’s most popular tourist attraction. Wander through the old city, which is carved into towering red cliffs. Marvel at Al-Kazneh (the Treasury), an intricate tomb façade carved into the rock race in the 1st century and made famous in the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Tour the ruins of the ancient city of Jerash, wandering past hilltop temples, plazas, fountains and city walls. Take a pilgrimage to Bethany Beyond the Jordan, on the east bank of the Jordan River, where Jesus was said to have been baptized.

Wander around the capital of Amman, where ancient ruins stand alongside modern buildings. Marvel at the Bronze Age tombs on the Citadel and learn more about the region and its history in the Jordan Archaeological Museum and the Folklore Museum.

Head out to Jordan’s desert castles, such as Quseir Amra, Qasr Al-Mushatta and Qasr A-Kharrana. All of these have been lovingly preserved and are beautiful examples of Islamic art and architecture.

Trek through the dramatic sandstone mountains of the Wadi Rum desert, exploring the canyons and water holes. Fly over the landscape in a hot air balloon or microlight, and enjoy a camel ride across the sand.

Go scuba diving in Aqaba, an area known for its wonderful marine life. Spot turtles, dolphins, manatees, crab and lobster in the underwater coral reefs. Other popular seaside destinations include the salty waters of the Dead Sea, where bathers can float unaided.

Fly into Queen Alia International Airport in Amman. Rent a car to explore the more remote parts of the region and to reach the Dead Sea. Visit during spring (March to June) for the most temperate weather and to see blooming wildflowers across the region.

Whatever your reason for visiting Jordan, you will never forget your experience.
