"beware this place is kinda a tourist trap. it’s a bit expensive for what it is and feels more like a gimmick than the actual culture. that being said, everything is very nice and no complaints about the room, onsen, and service, just way bigger than expected!"

"This property was amazing. Always had a private hot spring available mid day during breaks between going out. We also tried their traditional dinner and I think it was worth the price of trying. Smoking rooms were comfortable and clean as well. Also the Yukata free rental was a nice touch."

"The hotel is charming, great breakfast buffet, conveniently located to many temples and shrines, and facilities were very nice. Small gym and laundry room. Staff was very nice and eager to help. Room was comfortable and quiet. Would stay here again next time I visit Kyoto."

"Of the nine different hotels and ryokans we stayed at, this was our favorite place to stay. The location was gorgeous and the staff was the friendliest and most helpful we encountered. This location is up in the mountains so it doesn't have many tourists. We were able to to walk to three different nearby shrines/temples in about 2-3 hours and saw only 4 other people. This was the most relaxing part of our 2 week trip. The dinner and breakfast was exceptional but the staff and location is why we picked this hotel as our favorite place of our trip. I would absolutely stay here again. If you are looking for a place to relax in a mountain setting this is the place to stay!"

"Muni Kyoto is a small boutique hotel with friendly staff and is conveniently located. Our second floor room has beautiful views of Arashiyama with large floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony. The hotel and rooms have a modern and minimalist design so that the focus is on the natural scenery outside. Breakfast has multiple courses and is delicious, especially their freshly baked croissants. The dining experience is generally calm and relaxing with the views of Arashiyama."
