The room was impressive in its size & its design (both aesthetic & functional) was of high quality. The food was very good quality. We met the chef & he clearly had a great pride in his work. It was however quite expensive for some of the items... The continental breakfast & the burger (when served in the room) stand out as slightly poorer value than others; tasty though! The airport pickup driver didn’t turn up & I therefore had an old-school cab ride! The concierge rescued it by paying the driver for me & not charging me, but then they were in my debt & awkwardly tried to make it up to me. Fine, but I would have been more impressed with a gift of some kind, perhaps a fruit plate? A free drink or dinner? Dinner service pleasant but very slow; to the point of mild annoyance, e.g., drinks not arriving until after the food. Again, the food was very good & had some variation from the room menu. The breakfast buffet was good, but the hot food counter was not very attentively manned; I was served on one day out of the three/four times I went down. The coffee machine was fine, but again, not very attentively looked after. Upon check-out I was told that they needed a bank account number to refund the balance on my room… this has never happened to me before & required assistance from my finance department, that probably greatly inconvenienced them. Recommend you pay as you go until this is sorted out. Overall, it was a good stay, but the service needs some improvement.
