"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the UIG hotel. Away from all the bustle in Portree we loved how accommodating the staff were with a great bar and menu for lunch and dinner"

"Nearly £500 a night, but a complete lack of hospitality We stayed for one night at Hotel Eilean Iarmain, paying £496.57 for our suite and breakfast. While the setting is beautiful, the service and management response were completely unacceptable for a hotel at this luxury price point. At dinner (which was not included in the room rate), my wife's bread for her bouillabaisse was served burnt. By the time it was replaced she had finished the dish, had she waited it would have gone completely cold. We raised it with the waitress, but no gesture of goodwill was offered. The real disappointment, however, was at checkout. When I brought this up to the manager, expecting a professional apology or a small deduction from the bill, he dismissively told me I "have to understand the kitchen was busy." When you are paying nearly £500 a night, a busy kitchen is not the guest's problem; it is a management issue. The complete lack of accountability or goodwill over a spoiled dining experience showed very poor hospitality standards. Extremely disappointing."

"Our room was spacious and was cleaned thoroughly every day whilst we were there.Staff were all helpful and all appeared to know their job role and responsibilities.Breakfast was initially from a menu but was changed to a buffet on our last two mornings.Both ways were fine and there was a very good choice of hot and cold food. The bar was well stocked and staff were pleasant and attentive. We ate in the bar each night and the food was very good with several choices and priced very reasonably. The hotel was close to the beach and was accessed by a board walk which we used.The hotel had a pool and spa which we did not use as we went out sightseeing each day. The view from the hotel was stunning too."

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Skeabost! The bartender, check in staff and wait staff were all very friendly! The view is magnificent and we walked all around the property after breakfast. Babbling brook, abandoned medieval ruins and a 9 hole golf course that is no longer in use. We loved our stay!"
