Lovely welcome, fantastic view from room 7 and the bird book and binoculars definitely came in handy. Disappointed that the excellent food at dinner could not be tried at breakfast - arrangements were offered to eat next door but we were so full from the night before we didn’t bother. Will definitely revisit.

How small is a 4 star room?
Shown in the rain to lovely position with decking overlooking estuary & birds. Staff did not show how to operate heater or manage the door locking system. Did not mention there was a fridge. We had to walk back to main building for assistance. The room was truly tiny like a caravan and at £160 per night with no breakfast, rather a shock. We later learned that the rooms had been 2 rooms but had been converted into 3!! Rather greedy we thought. The guests next door door could be heard through the walls & there was a smell of drains in the tiny bathroom & mould in the shower. The staff very quickly replaced our fridge as it had a broken freezer door and this was much appreciated. So overall a lovely location but disappointing.
3 rooms are crammed into this tiny space

Stayed here for two nights in one of the cabins overlooking the river. Overall very impressed and a good stay. Yes the cabins are small but it states that. It's cosy, warm and comfy. Good bed and towels. Whilest the location isn't really central, The station is a 10 Min walk at St Erth, take a torch as at night it's dark. Hayle 20 Min. Birdies and old Forge close by. Staff were friendly throughout.

Excellent first class hotel, recommended.
Excellent hotel, though a trifle pricey considering out of season stay. Very bad weather (Storm Dennis), so room service brought me an additional room heater - position of fixed radiator under window not ideal, as the thick curtains covered it, I tucked them up onto the window sill out of harm's way. Bathroom was very cold indeed, it appeared floor tiles must be bedded onto uninsulated concrete - the floor sweated and was soaking wet throughout the stay. However none of the above was more than a glitch - the hotel and all staff were excellent, food was good, and service first class. I stayed as a single occupancy, while visiting my girlfriend who works and lodges in the town, We were looked after very well indeed, and I would have no hesitation in staying here again, and would recommend the Old Quay House to anyone

We were given an upgraded room for 2 of the 3 nights which was great. Really comfy rooms. Fab view over the estuary, esp in the morning watching the birdlife on the water. The breakfast was a continental breakfast which was fine. I was hoping for toast and a light cooked breakfast, but the ham and cheese was of high quality, and other available items were all good. I totally understand why it's not feasible to imply a chef for one of two cooked breakfasts in a quiet time of year! No complaints at all....it was a lovely stay and the owners/staff were v friendly and very helpful too. Highly recommended and I would go again.

Lovely place to stay.
Very charming and cosy lodge with amazing view of the estuary. Water pressure a little strange in the shower. Pocket sprung mattress would raise comfort level to a five

When we arrived we were informed that only a continental breakfast would be served in the room. Not good when you are avoiding wheat products. There was no phone in the room. Also the bathroom floor although clean, became very slippery when it was wet, say after a shower. The room was nice and clean, but in a block near the hotel and therefore you felt very remote during your stay.

Room on an Estuary
We had a very pleasant stay in the Old Quay House during our week-long drive around Cornwall. Our room was in a small, free-standing building with a window and patio facing the estuary. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was sparklingly clean. The room itself was tiny but was well-equipped with thick robes, slippers and even binoculars to bird watch. Check-in is at the restaurant and the barman was helpful when I had trouble with the lock on the new door to our room. Dinner at the restaurant was typical pub fare but in an attached, sunny dining room. Breakfast was standard English breakfast. Enjoyed our time here.

Nice hotel shame about breakfast
Although staff were very helpful there was only 1 waitress at breakfast. Had to go to bar to ask for tea and coffee and waitress run off her feet trying to serve everyone. Took at least half hour before we got our breakfast. Other than that everything was fine.
