Very disappointed stay in The Lansdowne.
The hotel is on Hastings sea front. It looks tired and in poor condition externally. The internal lobby area is sterile and unwelcoming. The reservation staff were friendly enough. The internal decor was appalling- paint pealing from the walls, many damp stains and water marks. The aroma in the stairwell was overwhelmingly damp and unpleasant. The carpets were filthy. The rooms were slightly better but again looking closely at the walls and skirting, multiple scuffs and smudges were apparent. Overall, this hotel deserves a ranking of one star. It needs a full internal revamp and needs a damp course treatment. I would not stay again.

Didn’t like anything about it apart from young man at reception, who was extremely helpful in a rediculous place. No breakfast, you don’t do them anymore, no water in machine to drink for our medication in the morning. The place needs to shut down for a full refurbishment!!!!

Very disappointed, had expected better, was told no available breakfast as not worth opening kitchen, staircases drap and in need of repair and decoration, the lift that could on take ONE person had seen better days. With the right investment cold be one of the best hotels in Hastings. .this hotel and staff not what i was expecting.

Nice Pleasant Hotel
We loved the stay in the Hotel. The only downside was the lift. We had to go into it as singles. Took ages to get up and down. Also the window safety lock was broken. A good job we had no small kids with us. Overall a pleasant hotel and friendly staff. I also believe the breakfast should have been included at the price we paid for the night. We also had the pleasure of the local winos screaming and shouting and fighting below our window.

Unfortunately we did not stay. The room was awful. The television was placed above the headboard of one of the beds so unable to watch and was very small. Carpet was filthy and room very shabby.

The area seemed a bit dodgy with street people hanging around. The wifi was not functioning in our room as it was being upgraded. We made a complaint and were given a complimentary breakfast. The manager was most apologetic. Parking was only available on the street and we had to pay for it. For an extra charge we were able to upgrade to a seaview room. Common areas were quite shabby but the room had been upgraded and was clean and modern. Some of the lights did not work.

Too warm in room
The room had very limited ventilation (the window only opened two inches) so it was like a greenhouse. A fan in the room did not help. Breakfast expensive and far too much on the plate. No lift so a lot of stairs.

Horrible, horrible stay. Women: avoid.
Horrible, run-down room. Dirty windows, walls, peeling wallpaper, no bedside light, broken TV remote control held together with a plaster (!), drunk and homeless men permanently gather just near the entrance making it feel unsafe for women alone. Rude, uninterested female manager. She obviously isn’t interested in standards. Woken up at 2.30am by people (drug addicts probably) shouting in passage behind hotel, went on for half an hour. If you’re looking for a cheap hotel in the dodgiest part of the town , and don’t care about nice interiors, this is the place for you.

Great location
Check in was very quick and easy, woman on the desk was lovely. Same with check out very easy. It was just somewhere to have a sleep so did the job. Comfortable bed, multiple pillow options. It's an older hotel but better kept then some I've visited. Windows weren't very easy to manage and it was a bit dusty in places but was clean and simple so didn't want for much. Location is amazing, right on the seafront and a short walk from old town. Ample parking in the underground opposite for a decent price.

When we first entered the hotel there was a very funny smell,lift is tiny and if wheel chair bound wouldn't get this in.ladder in the way when you get to 4floor when you come out.room had water marks on the ceiling and wall,bed wére not comfortable and didn't think it was worth the money we paid for this.the view was good
