Room is old and smells bad. Room service starts at 7-8am so if you miss that time, you have to ask the front desk to send them back. Building structure is weird. If you stay at the Japanese-style wing, you have to walk basically across the whole building to go down to the main hall. Restaurants are a puzzle for you to resolve if you ever want to eat something there. They were so hard to reserve a seat. No info, no instruction, no one told us how to make a reservation despite us asking every single restaurant and even the front desk. There was an izakaya bar where the server just straight up kick us out. We ended up walking all the way out to the town for food. The whole hotel has ONLY 1 washer and 1 dryer, so good luck if you want to do that mid-trip laundry.
3 stars for being next to the train station and for the onsen bath. However I won’t be coming back. With the price you pay, there are better options in Hakone than this one.
