hotel with superb view of the hakodate coastline
A traditional ryokan in the Yunokawa Hot Spring area. It has a onsen that offers superb view of the coast line. Very near to the sea. The area only has all the ryokans and does not have many food and shopping in the area so it will be a little inaccessible. the room is a little old but clean and well-maintained. the buffet breakfast spread has a wide variety.

Hakodate onsen adventure!
Wonderful staff who was very helpful and provided a lot of local knowledge and recommendation during our stay. The hotel is a little bit outside of the central Hakodate area but easy to get to via tram/bus/taxi. The onsen view was wonderful and it was cool to see the airport not too far away!

Everything was great except that sleeping on the floor with futon was still too hard for those of us who are used to soft fluffy beds.

Recommended onsen hotel with good dinner buffet
Very great onsen hotel. They check if you are guest before letting you in (unless they remember you), which makes me feel safe becoz anyone can enter the onsen otherwise. The location is not bad. I know a lot of traveler arrive there by local bus. However, if you are with luggages, the better option is go by airport bus, which allows you to put the luggage in the "storage" and it is only 60 yens (or less) more if you are from either airport or JR station non-stop. The onsen is great, which kind of allow you to see the view. The room is clean and since we are on high level, we could see the sunrise. Front desk also use translator (app) to communicate when needed. We also join a local tour booking with them. Dinner and breakfast buffet is great with a lot of options. They refill the food very fast. We went to the "monkey onsen" garden nearby, not highly recommended, but ok to visit once. The only thing I am not very satisfied is the onsen open hour. They are closed between check out and check in time, so I don't enjoy the benefit staying there for two nights.

A very happy stay
We are quite happy with the stay in hotel. Hot springs added bonus during cold and snow weather. The service was in high standard and dinner buffet was quite impressive as well. The hotel located not within CBD area but a 20 minutes bus can take you to the front of the hotel.

The room was slightly small for 5 person. We needed to move the furnitures away to make space for the 5 futons. The staffs every night will make the beds for us. In addition, the Buffett breakfast and dinner were good. Staffs were very polite. The parking was especially useful to us. The hotel is near to the monkey spa attraction - 5 mins walking. The stay generally was ok.

This place was great. The food at the buffet was fantastic, and the onsen also incredible. My only complaint would be that our corner room had loud howling wind the whole night. It was louder in our room than any other part of the building.

The spa is located on the roof, one side for men and the other for women. There are 4 pools with increasing temperature. The outdoor has a view to the airport and the ocean. It is really serene. Food is excellent.

Loved the hot springs (both indoor & outdoor) and the kids looooved the game center on the second floor. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was courteous and kind enough to keep our luggage for a couple of days while we traveled to Sapporo, then back to Hakodate (back to the Heiseikan Kaiyotei). We took the Hakodate Liner from Hakodate Hokuto (the shinkansen), then took a cab for a quick ride (about $15) from Hakodate station to the ryokan/hotel. Great variety at the dinner buffet. There was a big group tour that was there so it was a bit loud/crowded at dinner, but the hot springs were surprisingly empty (we were the only ones there for a while) and pleasant and peaceful. We would definitely recommend the place!

Nice onsen but far from main sites
The hallways have a dank smell of smoke but the rooms themselves are fine. The onsen has a red water bath which is rare in Japan with different mineral content. The hotel is about 12 minutes by taxi to the main Hakodate tourist sites.

Nice hotel near the beach
Hotel has a nice onset with a sea view. Rooms are spacious and the dinnner buffet had a good selection. Breakfast was crowded because of the tour groups that were also staying at the hotel but they clear out at around 8am. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall a really pleasant stay and we will definitely come back again if we visit Hakodate again.

hotel room is very old, need renovation.
not recommend, the location is not convenient and too experience ($300) a night. you could live in the central with same price, and breakfast is very average, you could save the space for seafood in the local fish market

Good hotel with good hot spring
I booked the hotel at the last minute (4 hours before check in) on Christmas Eve. I was very pleased with the quality of the hotel, in particular the hot spring/onsen on the top floor. The room is spacious.

The hotel is a bit old and the buffet dinner and breakfast are quite disappointing. However, the outdoor hot spring bath is good if you go when all other group tourists are in bed.

Old hotel, nice hot spring, but a bit over priced
It's an old hotel and the staff can barely speak English. But it is still extremely clean. The hot spring is very nice on the top floor with magnificent view. But in terms of services, I wrongly booked a smoking room and wanted to change to non-smoking but the hotel refused to entertain my request. I wanted to change room because the smoke smell was too heavy but all that I had was the staff helping to spray some scents to alleviate the smell. So I think with the price level of this hotel the services should have been much better. The breakfast was nice with lots of choices. It's a bit far from the train station but that's where all the hot spring hotels are located.

エレベーターだけは古風ですが、部屋、お風呂、ロビーなどは新しく大変気気持ちがよかったです。 お風呂は眺望もお湯も、雰囲気も◎。食事は夕食、朝食とも内容、鮮度ともに最高。 首都圏の同クラスホテルのコースをはるかに凌駕しています。 加えて、スタッフのサービスも爽やかで言うことありません。 また、ぜひお世話になりたく思います。
