Top Groundhog River Waterway Provincial Park Hotel Reviews
Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Timmins
6/10 Okay
"I had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, which made a positive impression. The rooms were also well-maintained and clean, contributing to a comfortable environment.
However, I did encounter some issues. Unfortunately, the steam room and hot tub were not operational during my visit, which was disappointing as I had looked forward to using those amenities. Additionally, I felt that the room prices were relatively high for the location, especially considering the lack of access to certain facilities."
"The gym had two pieces of equipment in a dark small room. Garbage on the floor of the gym (and in the garbage can too) was there Friday at check in and still there Sunday when we left. Beds are very hard and uncomfortable. There was a lot of unforeseen rain and the entire lobby was like a water feature. Trying to grab a stale bagel at the “breakfast” (questionable expiry on some of the food) and my pants were soaked from the water POURING from the ceiling and into the flickering light fixtures. I alerted staff about the electrical problem and they said “oh it does that”. Definitely NOT worth the money."
"Thermostat didn't work, just made the heaters growl at me when i tried to turn it up. One little baseboard was on a separate control so we had it cranked just to keep up, then in the morning we used the microwave and heard a pop, and then no power! Looked high and low for fuse box or breaker box but couldn't find one! I understand old hydro, but why have a microwave in the room if the hydro can't handle it?"
"This is a gem for the price. Clean rooms. Lots of parking. Courteous staff. We stayed there for two nights during one of the storms prior to Christmas. I was bored, so I grabbed one of the shovels and did the exits on the two buildings as well as the stairs to the office. I was thanked by the manager and given a Tim's card, which was very nice of them (I didn't expect anything for my efforts). Will use this hotel again when travelling north."
