"Firstly l would point out the staff were excellent and were very helpful. However the room was not great. It was cramped and you had to move the tv (or duck under it) just to get to the bathroom. The road noise was constant despite double glazing. Also had to ask the lovely staff to change the stained pillow cases. When leaving at 10am check out time the place was still locked up, curtains pulled and deserted."

"Property appears to have been recently made over, everything is new and fresh, extremely clean and although on the small side the rooms are perfect for overnight stays, comfortable bed and with more than enough tea/coffee supplies unlike a lot of places. The continental breakfast was excellent quality and plentiful. We could not fault the staff who were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall excellent value for money and we will definitely go back"

"Very warm welcome, lovely room, and all food excellent. Very good quality breakfast, particularly. A most enjoyable anniversary stay. Thanks to all!"

Cumbria Grand Hotel

"The hotel was conveniently placed about 10 minutes walk to the railway station and 15-20 minutes walk into the town. There was plenty of free parking and the hotel is set in nice grounds. The hotel is a grand old building but in places could do with a bit of an upgrade certainly in the rooms where our balcony windows had seen better days. Breakfast was good and a nice hot and cold buffet selection. Plus the service was good. Nice bar area but shut fairly early and apart from Saturday you couldn’t get a drink past about 10.45 pm! all the staff were very pleasant (apart from head bar man who always seemed miserable and couldn’t shut early enough ☹️). Overall we enjoyed our stay."

"The hotel was excellent, staff were really friendly the room was very nice well decorated with a new bathroom( we stayed in a superior room)the view across the bay was amazing. We ate in the restaurant and thought food was great. Only thing stopping it being a 5 star review was the car park which is not big enough for the hotel so people end up double parked everywhere. There was no air conditioning in the room which usually wouldn’t be an issue but we were lucky enough to have fantastic weather so the room was baking hot and there was no fridge in the room which I would expect in any hotel these days. Overall though these are minor issues and we would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay."
