"My experience at the Clarion was very unfortunate. Around midnight I was woken up by someone trying to enter my room. Thankfully the extra latch stopped them, but they pushed against the door and the noise was loud enough to wake me up immediately. I yelled for them to get out.
A couple minutes later, once I regained my senses, I called the front desk. The employee apologized and admitted that another guest had mistakenly been given a key to my room. She said it should never have happened, but never asked if I was okay or if I needed anything.
In the morning I spoke with a front desk employee who was polite and took responsibility on behalf of the hotel, but told me there was nothing they could do. Because of the incident I was awake for nearly three hours and remained on edge the rest of the night.
The general manager was present in the back office, so I asked to speak with her. When I explained what happened, she initially said there was nothing they could do. I suggested comping the room, and the conversation unfortunately became disrespectful. When I explained that I was former law enforcement and that the situation could have turned out much worse, she responded with a personal insult about why I was “former.” I later explained that I left law enforcement after being shot in the line of duty. Being spoken to that way was extremely disheartening.
Mistakes happen—But the lack of accountability and the disrespect shown during the interaction made the situation far worse"
