Our room, the Jungle Room, was delightful and comfy. The breakfast was amazing and such a great value. The stairway is beautifully polished and well decorated but steep so watch your step!

Lovely stay

We quite enjoyed our stay at hotel am berg. If you don't mind a trek uphill at the end of your day, it's a wonderful place to stay. Comfy beds, great water pressure, and a tasty & large breakfast (optional, €15 each). The folks working there did speak English which made things a bit easier. They were very accommodating, even letting us borrow silverware when we brought food back to the room. There's plenty of food options in the surrounding area, including a small market. Very clean, the room was serviced daily, too.

No elevator but otherwise great!

The location is amazing. Close to the train station and in the heart of sachsenhausen walking distance from a lot of great restaurants and bars. I loved the old house charm and decor with really quaint wall papers. The only issue is there is no elevator. So not great for older people, people with disabilities or if you have lots of luggage unless you can get a room on the ground floor. Even the entrance is not wheel chair accessible as there are a set of steps to get in.

An enjoyable Stay.

We arrived in the afternoon and left early the next day. The Hotel is located within walking distance of Sudbahnhoff and once there its a short hop to the City Center. Or you can take a 15-20 minute walk to the entertainment district of Sachsenhausen. The Hotel itself looks worn and old when you enter. The carpet on the stairs has definitely seen better days. My wife thought they are in the process of renovating. However, I won't ding them because the room itself was modern and spotless. The power window rolladen were a very nice touch. The bed was comfortable. Staff were friendly and a very affordable price too. Finally parking was easy and free. This is a big deal when you go to Frankfurt. So I don't want to be negative because overall a very enjoyable stay.

What an absolutely gorgeous hotel. Post war, but with old world charm. Huge ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and a balcony. Our room was giant. Beds were comfortable. The breakfast is an extra fee but worth it. Delicious and plentiful with lots of healthy options as well as the usual meats and cheeses. It’s a half hour walk from old town so if that’s your jam, you never have to take public transit.

The staff is amazing, if I could give them 10 stars I would. Rooms are fantastic, very comfortable beds and good size. Very clean hotel and the breakfast was delicious. This is a perfect location for walking to see the old part of town, lots to see do and eat. The hotel is top notch! highly recommend.

Wonderful family run hotel in a lovely property within walking distance to food and old city. Our room was spacious. Breakfast is in lovely room with a good spread of food. Parking is available within the property or on the street in front. Would recommend if staying in Frankfurt.

Great night in Frankfurt

This was such a fun place to stay! It definitely isn't a typical chain hotel. It is relatively close to the bus/train/underground station. If you are traveling by foot be aware that you will be walking uphill from the station! I did not have breakfast because I had an early flight, but I did get to enjoy my private balcony in the evening.

Not to be missed

Lovely hotel! Owner was very kind and waited up for us when our plane was delayed, since he had no way to contact us! Lots of old world charm in the rooms: exactly what American travelers are looking for in Europe. Clean and comfortable setting. Wonderful breakfasts with selection of bread, fruits, and cold cuts. We looked forward to it each morning. Convenient location near bus lines and south station. Really can't recommend enough. Thanks for an amazing stay for my family!

Great character-but needs updating

The hotel has its character - loved my “princess tower”. Some amenities need updating: The bed was very small and not very comfortable. No blinds or curtains to block the light.

This place is a gem! Beautiful, old, historic, quirky. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. There are great dining options a short walk away. We took an Uber to the "Old New City" and had a great time walking around and enjoying the vibrant local community and admiring the beautiful architecture. But be forewarned: this hotel doesn't have an elevator so if you have heavy luggage be prepared to haul it up the stairs. Their friendly staff will of course offer to help. I couldn't tell if the heaters in the bedrooms are also air conditioners, but with the window open and the fan running it was fine in the June temps.

Vriendelijk personeel, traditioneel ontbijt. Kamer in souterrain met een raam maar geen uitzicht, schoon. Kapotte lamp bij aankomst, brandalarm dat piepte ook ‘‘s nachts , batterijen waren leeg maar werden niet vervangen omdat er geen batterijen waren. We hadden het hotel geboekt voor de allure en vroegere grandeur. Die was niet aanwezig in de kamer in het souterrain. Vraag dus een kamer op de verdiepingen als u dit ook wil. In het algemeen is de grandeur wel nog aanwezig maar gedateerd en toe aan onderhoud, waar overigens mee begonnen is , te horen aan de bouwgeluiden . Locatie is goed.

古城のような外観の建物で、駅からの道中、ここと知らずにこういう所に泊まれたらいいのにと言った連れがまさにその建物に泊まると知ってずいぶん嬉しそうでした。歴史のある建物のようで、一度戦争で壊れたのか、廃墟のような状態からオーナー家が元通り修復している様子をロビーの写真本で拝見しました。大事に使われてきた建物だと随所に感じられます。 フロントロビーは重厚な雰囲気で、もしかして場違いに格式高い所に来てしまったのかと一瞬不安になりましたが、英語さえおぼつかない私達にもとても丁寧で親切に対応してくれたスタッフの皆様に本当に感謝しています。 今回、私達はスーペリアでベランダのある良い部屋に宿泊させてもらいました。素敵なバラの壁紙とシャンデリアのある、多分客間であった、趣きの部屋でした。見学したゲーテハウスを思い出しながら当時の生活はこんな感じだったのかなと想像していました。衣類のクローゼットなど古い鍵を回して開ける品の良い年代物で、何世代も使ってきたものを自分達にも使わせてもらっているようで、万一壊したらどうしようと畏れ多かったです。部屋の鍵も大きくて重くて(あと何故か二重。防音の配慮?)、どれも本物な雰囲気があります。 お風呂やベッド脇のライトやラジオ、WIFIなどの設備面は、最新設備のホテルのような便利に洗練されたものでこそありませんが、歴史的建物に泊まっているのだから私としてはそれでいいと思います。 シーツやタオルはとても清潔で、掛け布団はドイツ製で暖かかったです。あとトイレがきれいです。 あと、アジア風の部屋だったとのレビューを拝見しまして、今回のお部屋にはお風呂場の黒いタイルに中国の美しい風景画が描かれていました。もしかしてこれのことかもと思いましたが、やっぱり違うかも。ゲーテハウスにも北京の間という部屋がありますから、文化的リスペクトがあるのかもしれませんね。 朝食はコーヒーか紅茶から始まるコースで、フルーツカクテル、何種類ものハムやチーズ、メインの卵料理、4種類のドイツパン、デザートのケーキと、贅沢な時間を過ごさせてもらいました。別の方のレビューの通り、素晴らしい食体験でした。別料金なのでお忘れなく。 フランクフルト南駅からホテルは歩いて5分しない位の距離で、周囲はファミリー層が住む住宅街なので夜でも怖いという感じはしません。行きは登り坂なので、荷物が多いと少し大変かもしれません。駅からバスを使えば空港にも一本(30分くらい)です。 近隣の飲食店マップも準備してくれています。フランクフルトはグリーンソースが有名と教えてもらい、歩いて数分の地元の方が向けのお店を教えてもらいました。店員の方が親切で、美味しかったです。 広い駐車場があるので、車旅の方は市内にも出やすくて便利だと思います。ただ、私が感じたこのホテルの唯一の欠点は、水回りではなく、この駐車場ですね。ホテルの正面に駐車場があって、金網の塀で場所も分かりやすく車で入りやすくていいとは思うのですが、建物の雰囲気を少し損なってしまっている気がします。余計なお世話ですが。それに、もしここがいい感じの庭だったらホテルの格が上がってしまい、私には泊まれなくなりそうです。 本当に素晴らしいホテルで、ドイツ文化にまた少し触れさせてもらいました。 ありがとうございました。
