"We only stayed at Ashbourne House for one night and it was very nice. Lovely room with a Comfortable bed, great shower and towels. Plenty if tea and coffee, and if you ran out you could get more from a dish on the landing also a sweet treat if you needed it, which I thought was a nice touch.
It was a bit away from restaurants and the main shopping but public buses stopped just down the road and was easy to catch and came regularly if you didn’t have a car.
If you did have a car there seemed...

"Property lovely, high standard interior.
Staff on reception felt a little awkward as if on guard sat at a desk near the stairs but were always friendly.
Access was a little difficult due to cars parked around the entrance to the car park. I guess to avoid the additional charge per night extra charge which we paid. Upon leaving our car was covered in tree sap but it will wash off.
We stayed for 4 days and no one came into our room to empty our bins, replenish toiletries or restock the hot drink...

"There are a number of rooms above the pub. Stayed for one night and would stay again for one night. Close to the Barbican, had a single room with ensuite. The shower was lovely, only having a hand towel less so. The room was very warm and a fan was provided but you had to decide between quiet and sweaty. Breakfast was included and there was an extensive menu. Just a bit mixed - good for a night, couldn't see myself staying there for longer."

"Simply put, we found it an excellent, convenient and high quality hotel near the centre. We particularly liked that breakfast and internet are included. We cant be bothered with other hotels that charge extra, particularly for useful internet.
We will always try this hotel first when visiting York again."

"The location of this hotel is fantastic, but parking is so expensive and in my opinion should be a reduced price for people staying in the hotels we ended up paying around £65 for 2 night stay parking which is to much.
The hotel room was very small for a family room.
And the room was super dark and outdated.
Didn’t give you any amenities and the staff were not the most helpful."

"Was disappointed to find that there was no available gym in the hotel, even though it is advertised as such. The sofa bed in the room was broken, as was the air-conditioning. Staff attempted to fix it but didn’t make a difference. When we visited, there was a pile of mattresses sitting in the lobby. Surely there’s a better way to manage this. We shared our complaints with staff at the hotel but they showed little interest so I hope management will take note "

"Lovely, comfortable and clean hotel. Great location, with a good breakfast and bar and friendly staff.
Let down slightly by very minor issues, such as wrong tv remote, lack of parking and tricky to use room heating. Also, breakfast hours could do with being longer as it can get extremely busy.
But overall, a lovely stay and would recommend."
