Affordable "automated" hotel
The hotel is automated, in the sense that is has remote reception via telephone and no restaurant, bar or reception services on the premises. The rooms are OK in terms of appointments, with a good shower, kitchen counter and small fridge. Tea/ coffee etc provided. Bedding was sparse and only one pillow provided. Another would help if you want to sit up and read / watch TV / work on a laptop in bed.

Excellent only 2 minor rechnical problems...
It was our 10th or 15th time we stayed in this hotel, oftewel in the business room 41 Clean, complete, comfortable Pity the screen was broken but we managed its to lower it so we had a dark sleeping room The shower with All Kinds of features is after years Now really broken and more NOT functioning than working: plz replace it by working parts! Over All again a very Nice stay and weekend!

Good hotel for visits provided you do not want to
Quite a long way from the city centre (good 20 minutes walk from the station), but clean and well equipped with Aldi just next door (and fast food if thats your thing) to get the groceries in. Good apartment hotel with all you need for a self-catering stay.

It's a budget hotel, perfectly clean, actually a good shower, but the bed is a little sparce. There are no staff - you just call and they unlock a postal box with your room key in it. However, I was in a ground floor room with a huge window, overlooked from all sides and there was no curtains in the room. I guess a one off but still a pain. It is reasonably priced and great for a cheap night or two stayover - but nothing more.

Reception is 2.5k away
It would be useful to know that the reception area is in another building 2.5 k away. Instead of coming to you when you need something they require you to come to them.

No multilingual staff
There were no multilingual staff working when I arrived, making checking in very difficult. In addition, please note that this hotel has NO reception. Te reception is at a different location a mile or so away and you have to check in and out there - breakfast is also there. Very inconvienient if you have no car.

clean and functional
Located in an essen suburb but with easy tram links in city centre. Hotel is clean but basic. Breakfasts good. No non-german TV channels (ancient TV). Some rooms face onto busy road. Staff are nice. There are 3 petuls. The apartment one is supposed to be the nicest but you need to check in in Stolpenberg to get a key. The Petuls are fine for short stays for business but in terms of the surrounding area, its dead and the only way out is the tram service into the city.

Ikea-syle Hotel missing the small things like service
Petul City Garden is a satellite apartment block away from the centre of town. The only amenities (and highlights) are a McDonalds and Rewe within 50m. To obtain entrance you must check in at the Hotel Petul a few km away, and same for check out, making this less than convenient. Once in City Garden, you are on your own in this sterile new build. Services like night reception are hinted at but never seen. In fact prepare for dark eperience outside the rooms as motion sensor lighting in the hallways come on reluctantly if at all and promise an uneven search for rooms in darkness (if travelling early or late) or require a dervish jumping dance to get them to turn on. The high point was a true power shower but even that had not been fully wired properly. Clean but small touches like service were truly missed. I dont normally ask much from a a business hotel but this failed to provide even that leaving memories of a sterile stay and pleasure at checking out.

Der Empfang war gut obwohl wir spät angereist sind. Das Zimmer hat Altersflecken. Teppich viele Gebrauchsspuren. Im Bad Glühlampe und Haken zum aufhängen von Handtüchern defekt. Ränder von Gläsern auf dem Nachttisch.

Het inchecken per telefoon was een drama. Ondanks dat ik goed duits kan, probeerde de medewerkerster via de telefoon het in het Engels. Helaas erg gebrekkig en onduidelijk.

Keurig proper simpel appartement
Mooi simpel klein appartement, clean maar enkel op de grond, cleaning personeel moet ook eens naar boven kijken want badkamer had veel stofnetten en spinnenest. Verlichting in de entree was stuk zodat we onze smartphone moesten gebruiken en de 2 remotecontroles van de tv's ontbraken wat keurig is opgelost door 1 van een andere kamer

OK, men der skal strammes op!
Har boet der før hvor alt klappede til vores fulde tilfredshed. Denne gang var der problemer med indtjekningen hvor vi måtte afhente Keycards på andet hotel et stykke derfra. Værelset var ikke tilstrækkeligt godt rengjort.

Das Hotel liegt außerhalb der Essener Innenstadt, aber fußläufig zur Uni. Das Ambiente hat wenig von einem Hotel, gegenüber ist McDonalds und REWE. Der Check-in funktioniert problemlos, obwohl es keine Rezeption gibt, aber leider eben auch niemand, der dafür sorgt, dass Ruhe herrscht. Dadurch entsteht eine etwas seltsame Athmosphäre. Ganz sauber war das Zimmer auch nicht, aber immerhin das Bad.

Lage ganz ok, allerdings recht laut durch die angrenzende Strasse, Schule und Schulbusdepot. Keine Rezeption, Check-in läuft über Sprechanlage bzw. Telefon im Haus. Haus etwas in die Jahre gekommen, Fenster ließen sich nicht aufmachen, Einrichtung etwas bieder. Ansosnten war alles sauber, allerdings wurde nur ein Handtuch zur Verfügung gestellt und die Duschgeltube war leer. Etwas ärgerlich wenn man sich darauf verlässt. Für eine Nacht ok.

Ich musste umgebucht werden wiel es technische Probleme gab, aber das andere Hotel der Petul Kette war weniger als 5 Minuten entfernt und ich kannte es bereits. Alles perfekt trotz später Ankunft

Het was niet echt wat we er van verwacht hadden. Locatie somber, inchecken niet duidelijk aangegeven dat dit via een telefoon gaat. Geen wifi op de kamer, zoals als aangegeven, alleen onder bij de liftuitgang enigszins signaal. Daarnaast geluidsoverlast van het verkeer dan wel lossende vrachtwagens van de Rewe. Verder kamer schoon, redelijk ruim.

Nice hotell but nothing close
The hotell is situated outisde the city center and there is nothing close to the hotell. Essen Messe is on the other side of the city. They have no reception you have to call in on their phone to get the keys. It is also not possible to get extra pillows if you want that The rooms are nice and clean, they have a minimalistlic design. I liked it.

Unkomplizierte Unterkunft
Zwei Übernachtungen während eines Messebesuchs. Vom Hbf mit der Stadtbahn gut erreichbar, Supermarkt in der Nähe, so dass eigene Verpflegung in der Miniküche möglich. Das automatische Einchecken hat nicht beim ersten Anlauf geklappt, war allerdings erst um 19.30.

Extrem pragmatisches Hotel zur reinen Übernachtung
War zum Wochenende als reine Übernachtungsmöglichkeit gedacht. Und dafür reicht's.
