The Imperial Torquay

4/10 Poor

"No air conditioning. Leaky shower and toilet noises. Rattling doors and windows. Front desk doesn't answer phone calls ringing for more than 10 minutes. No porter for luggage transport. Bar burgers and salads were awful. Have to ask for salt and pepper shakers in Palm Court lounge. Chair upholstery peeling and cobwebs on the windows."

"The room was clean and had all the required equipment. The air con was very poor. Only went down to 19 and would then go back up to 23 by itself. We didn’t use it. We had a desk fan but they just blows hot air around. The hotel is in desert need of an upgrade, it’s tired and worn out. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It’s a very convenient place to stay to visit Totnes but the car park only holds 5 cars. When we returned in the evening all the spaces were taken and I was told some might be staff. We parked in the high street which is ok between 6pm and 9am otherwise the paying car parks are a good distance away."

Crofton House Hotel

"Looks very glamourous in the photo & apart from the fact we got a really large room, that's all that was good about it. There was NO soap or handwash in the bathroom, just a tiny bottle of shampoo & a toilet seat that should have been fixed months ago. There was no key to the room, all electronic & after the initial checking, the staff member disappeared and we never saw another staff member again, even when trying to get someone to adjust the toilet seat - it was quite dangerous if you weren't sure footed. Parking was also very restricted, & as we got a park, we weren't game enough to use the car again, in case there were none available on our return. Very disappointed 😞"

Harbour Hotel Salcombe

"Fabulous hotel. Friendly staff and wonderful position. We had a gorgeous room over looking the estuary. Couldn't fault anything. My husband collapsed in Salcombe and everyone at the hotel was very helpful, particularly members of the public who came to my husbands aid. I did thank the people that helped us but not having anyone's telephone numbers was not able to thank them properly. It was so appreciated. We had to go home so didn't get to enjoy the hotel as we would have liked. Thank you again and a big thank you to the people who helped us."

"Beautiful old building, the reception area/bar/lounge areas were fab. A little tasty around the edges....tables literally, but I loved the feel. The outdoor, heated pool was a real bonus....I didn't expect it to be as warm as it was! Only downside, I saw someone spraying the weeds around the Pool & was unable to find out what they used! The receptionist who checked me in was amazingly helpful & cheery. The rest of the staff were very helpful, but there seemed to be an apathy/ underlying issues, which made the staff seem aloof. For a one night stay it was perfect & I would happily stay again. I really hope the staff are looked after so they can give their best selves."
