Magnificent views. Lovely staff. Under no circumstances book a street side room. Very noisy and ultra small. Beware you need to shower at night. Cold water in the mornings. Breakfast adequate. Restaurant ,shocking. Evening Margaritas fantastic for the price .Staff very friendly. Be aware u cannot book to your room. Cash only If we were to return would book ocean side room with the great views Great pool.

Extended our stay for another 3 days !!
The people were over the top! Super friendly and very helping! The pool is amazing, beds comfy and the view amazing! We have a king bed balcony view. That is the best beach as well. The breakfast isn’t the best but can make it work…..GREAT sunset!!

Ups and downs of DoubleGem
An amazing place that's right on the ocean. The staff is super friendly and remembers everything about you and your preferences. It truly goes above and beyond with service and food. The views are spectacular, especially the sunsets. Their breakfast only included 2 people and charged an additional 500php per person. So that was a little pricey considering the breakfast costs in other places close by. They also charged for shuttle service back to Puerto Princessa where some hotels we found out offer shuttle service included with stay.

Mediocre Stay
We like the restaurant view and the pool. But everything else is disappointing. The room is dark, small and outdated. The breakfast was not good and there were flies everywhere. Make sure you get an ocean view room otherwise it is not worth staying here.

My husband and I booked this property in advance. We traveled all the way from San Francisco, California first to Taipei. When we landed, we were told that the Manila airport and El Nido was closed due to a volcano explosion. We contacted this hotel to ask for a refund or credit and instead of working with us, they completely robbed us of our hard earned $622.00. They wouldn’t accommodate us whatsoever. I would not recommended this place to anybody because you people are totally disrespectful and completely dishonest.

Dear Guest, We checked our records and we found out that you have booked with us to stay on January 13-17, 2020 (4 Nights). You have contacted us however (via email) only last January 21, 2020, a good 9 days after your supposed stay with Doublegem. We completely understood that what happened in Taal Volcano is a natural happening with nobody at fault. However the closure of airports, we all know was done only on a temporary status, When things have normalized, all passengers were duly accommodated by ALL airlines including Philippine Airlines to make sure that they arrived at their desired destinations. For the affected , Doublegem guests who have communicated with us (email, Facebook, text & etc.) on the days the airline flights were cancelled/suspended due to the incident were offered and given adjusted dates of stay. Meaning, if they lost 1 night of stay, we have extended the date to accommodate the lost night. Your comments here we believe is misplaced. It was your decision not to push thru the El Nido Trip. Had you communicated with us on January 13, we could have opened your room dates to other guests and given you another dates for your stay. At the time you decided not to push thru your El Nido Trip, you know pretty well that your booking was not refundable, that is why you did not communicate with us. It is always our policy to be fair to our guests where practicable. Things would have been better had you timely communicated with us.

Hotel is a bit worn but has the essentials. Hot water, AC, and a safe. Best part of the hotel is view from the pool. Be careful when booking any trips. I booked tour A for which the main attraction is the big lagoon. Unfortunately I was only told when on the boat that we would instead be going to the small lagoon as the tour company didn't secure a slot.

Good location just by the ocean. Only a few minutes to town with a tricycle. Nice views from the pool. Friendly staff. Booked a room with balcony and ocean view - Not what we got. After a long discussion with the management we stayed in the correct room only 3 out of 5 nights.

Expedia is partly liable for this bad review since according to them, features of this hotel comes with the following: 1. 24/7 Room Service 2. Massage on-site 3. Spa I spent a huge amount of money booking my stay here due to the amenities mentioned above. But when we arrived at the hotel, none of these exist. I was ok with it by sending a masseuse to our room, but staff said that this is not allowed. I asked them if we can bring food inside our unit since there’s no room service, — also not allowed. We upgraded to a cottage because our room is sooo small so I paid up front for two nights, but the night shift staff continued to harass me for payment. The disappointment continues when found our cottage is infested with ants. We also notice a sign in front of the hotel that they recently failed to comply with their water/sewer system — Which makes total sense because my daughter got sick in our 2nd day for drinking their ice. She was puking and had diarrhea for 4 days. This hotel is also away from the nearest town so you will need to ride a tricycle just to buy meds and necessities. The breakfast lady is also rude asking for an extra payment of 500 pesos for my daughter before meal (we are 3, and only 2 people are free) The worst is when my friends arrived around 10AM from the airport, we asked to be served but this lady said ‘we are closed because we are eating right now’ ((staff of 8 people eating in a huge table) DON’T BOOK THIS HOTEL! THERE ARE BETTER ONES!

1. We apologize for the failure to communicate that the room service and spa service are temporarily suspended. 2. Regarding the harassing issue for payment of the upgrade room. We will definitely take action against the erring employee. This is now under investigation. 3. Regarding the issue on your daughter who had diarrhea for 4 days. The drinking water and the ice we serve are sourced from a third party provider and we are very strict in requiring them to use purified water in the ice making. The front office staff should have known of your daughter’s condition and should have assisted you to the nearest pharmacy and convenience store which is only 50 meters away from the resort. We will definitely take action to improve the service of our front liners. 4. The extra breakfast just like the regular orders are being collected after meal. We will investigate the breakfast team together with the issue of your friends who were not served breakfast because they were eating. These issues are presently under investigation. 5. Regarding the room with ants, being in a tropical place ants are everywhere but we are taking measures on how to eliminate them from the guest’s area. I understand the issue of the ants was immediately addressed by the housekeeping staff. We would like to express apologies for the inconvenience that you have experienced during your stay at the resort. On the same note, thank you very much for your feedback as this will greatly help us take note on the kind of services rendered by our staff. Rest assured that management is continuously doing its best to improve the services of the resort to the guests.

Good poisoning from the restaurant! Rooms are not what they look like in the pictures. Nice pool area. Breakfast is okay but dirty tables. We paid a lot of money for our room which was for 3 people and they only let two of us have breakfast a day!! They only let us know this the morning we got to breakfast!! Rude

Not really worth the price but nice view
Hotel was quite OK. Good location and good view if you have sea view. Otherwise as we stayed in both kinds of rooms the ‘jungle view’ is a joke. The food was horrible though. Your choice of omlette was either with or without white onion....Hotel next door was much better and cheaper too

The location was perfect and everybody we’re so accommodating and ready to help! The room was cozy with soft bed, pillows and down comforter.😊 There was an ample supply of hot water, contrary to previous reviews. The sunrise and sunset view was pretty amazing which blends with the eternity pool. El Nido is just beautiful!

Very nice and memorable stay - the location is perfect with an incredible sea view if you book the right room with a balcony (I booked the VIP room - a little small but very clean and the balcony is very large). You will enjoy the view anyway at the swimming pool or for the breakfast or dinner - both are good (I loved their pancakes) in regards with the price you pay. Smiling staff very kind and paying attention to me. I recommend and I want to come back!

Everything about this hotel was excellent except for the only bad draw back was there Wi-Fi didn’t work some of the time which was really important to me so if you’re all about Wi-Fi you might think of another place but if not an excellent place to stay

* Our room was located across the road of the main hotel & kinda isolated - no phone signal and wifi. Even the wifi at the main building was still useless as it was so slow. * We’ve been told on arrival/check in that beach towels would be provided on request. But when it was our time to go for the tours, we’ve been advised that we have to ask the tour organisers for our towels as they didn’t book our tours at their hotel. * On arrival at our room, no hot water & the water pressure was really low and we had to contact the reception for it. Maintenance guy arrived, and we were told by the guy that there’s hot water, we just had to run it for at least 5mins. It didn’t work btw after he left * we had to pay for the extra person for Php500 w/c we understand - so expensive! Another group of guests didn’t pay for their extra person, had to raise it to breakfast lady but she can’t explain why & insisted of us paying of which we did. Bfast lady had to chase me up tho while she was accommodating other guests in the resto (but she were not aware that I thought of queuing by the receiving area so I could pay) * There are numerous occasions where I had to borrow their hair dryer but every time I ask the front desk they will always say all hair dryers were already taken by other guests and no effort of chasing them up (they even have no list or guest who loaned their hair dryers) to accommodate my request.

Nice clean hotel located right on the beach, or if your in a forrest room just across the road, friendly staff, good sunset views and a nice pool. We were in a forrest room, only downside to our stay was the shower screen randomly smashing to pieces whilst shower was inuse, glass everywhere including in hands feet and legs. Staff were very attentive and cleaned up the mess however advised it was not the first time its happened, id say there will be other rooms with the same thing waiting to happen, be very careful around the glass shower doors.

Great hotel
Great stay, accommodating staff special mention to Ms. West .The shower doesn’t have curtain but was fixed the next day. Good location, quiet and the sunset view is picture perfect. The only downside is no inroom wifi but overall good. Will stay again if given the chance and probably stay in the main building.

King villa facing the water was excellent for sunsets, spacious and with a beautiful view. The hotel itself is quite dated, breakfast isn't very fresh or with much variety.

Do not stay here if you want to take a shower!!!!!
Cons: 1) We stayed here three nights and I was not able to shower during the entire time of our stay. The shower was COLD every time I tried to use it. One day I tried every hour from 6am-12 noon. ALWAYS COLD WATER, not warm, COLD!! 2) Bathroom smelt awful. Had a sewage smell at all times. 3) Large holes under the bathroom sink. One day, a 6 inch lizard came in and out of the holes. 4) There is no Wifi here at all. Advertised WIFI in the breakfast area. It took about 20 minutes to load one page. Therefore, no WIFI. 5) Twice when we asked for pool towels they said they were out. 6) Pool furniture not usable. Very worn cushions that look like they needed to be replaced five years ago. 7) Housekeeping comes at 5pm. Most people take boat tours during the day, which typically come back to shore at 4pm. You see the problem here. So upon returning to your room to cleanup and refresh oneself, housekeeping is there and you have to wait for them to finish. This happened to us everyday. 8) To get eggs or a pancake at breakfast, have to wait in a long line with other guests. Typically takes 20 minutes or so. Not acceptable. They should have pancakes pre-made in chafers and use all four burners for egg orders only. Pros: 1) Fantastic location on the beachfront. Charming and fantastic beachfront restaurants and bars on this stretch of the beach. Very fun to walk spot to spot.

Very bad hotel ,not worth the money we invest .
Room wasnt clean You always need to ask for cleaning. AC is not working well ,not cold the room. You have to wait 10 minutes for hot water for every shower . Noisy alot with road view . Although it say beachfront view!

Horrible value for the money! Very disappointed!
We have been staying at budget hotels for our vacation. We wanted to end with a luxurious, beachfront resort. This was the most expensive room we've booked in multiple travels throughout Asia, and it was far from the best. We've stayed in much nicer hotels for a third of the cost. The pool was nice, the beds were very comfortable, and the food was average. The breakfast buffet was awful. By 9:30 there was very little food left. There was NO wifi in the rooms. There was very weak wifi in the lobby and restaurant. We have Globe SIM cards, but the majority of the time we had no service. There was no bathtub in the room. Just a shower with low water pressure and lukewarm water at best. Our room was not beachfront. It was across the street on the "forest side." We could look out our window into the "forest" to see a bunch of trash. Today we moved to a different hotel down the street. It's very basic, but it's much more affordable, and wifi works throughout the entire hotel. All in all Doublegem isn't terrible, but it's definitely a terrible value for the high price.
