"Lady at the front desk stated My card got declined and asked me to pay her in cash. It was all a lie because when I told her I had no cash she proceeded to process my payment with the same card it was “declined” and payment went through with no issues. While getting my information she kept telling me about how easy it was just to pay her with cash. Very awkward moment and definitely something fishy was going on. Next time will consider other options before this one."

"This place is so-so. The photos make it look better than it actually is. It’s a bit far from the beach, but close to the main trucks and cars route. There’s a church close by, so you can hear people singing at night for a couple of hours—not too bad, though. The breakfast is okay, nothing out of the ordinary. The staff are not very friendly; they just do their job. I don’t think I would stay here again. I would give it a 5 out of 10."

I would definitely say you might want to rent the car if you're staying here, if you plan on traveling anywhere further than El Tunco. The hotel advertised a pool for every room, but neither of the pools in my two rooms was functional. The filtration systems were not working, leaving the pools cloudy and unusable. "This is such a great hidden gem. Only a quick (less than 10minute drive) from the beach town of El Tunco. If renting a car, there is safe parking available on the Casa Maya property and parking lots for a fee ($3) at El Tunco. The Casa Maya staff, including the parking attendant Luis who helped bring our bags in, were very kind and helpful throughout our whole stay. The check in process was quick and easy! "The resort itself is very nice and clean with a beautiful view. The staff was pretty friendly as well. However, note two important things- for one, the beach is very rocky and not easy to walk along. And two, the hotel plays music loudly for the evening hours until midnight or 2am depending on what day of the week. This music is very loud and can be heard from the rooms so sleeping under these conditions is very difficult. Keep this in mind when booking a relaxing getaway."
