A rat sneaked into the room on the first night of my stay. Horrified, it woke my mum up as she quickly attempted to trap it in the cupboard as to not damage our clothes or the luggage in the room. The next morning, i complained about this to the hotel staff, who at the reception, were very kind and helpful. They said the rat probably came from a small crack within the outside walls, and they switched our rooms. They also agreed to provide a refund for the first night, which was now ruined.
However, the problem amplified within the upper management. The receptionist told me my complaint would be "forwarded to the person handling refunds" in order to provide me with one. Let me be clear, as i'm writing this I stayed in the hotel 2 weeks ago and i have YET to be approached or contacted. I asked the reception again and again for any updates on my case and they kept saying i'd be contacted "soon". Now one of the 2 things are probably happening here. 1) Either the process of refunding one night really takes this hotel more than 2 weeks (very unlikely), or 2) The management in charge of it is stalling on purpose, not contacting me in the hopes of me just forgetting about it and moving on so that they wouldn't have to reach into their pockets to pay a fair night's refund. I don't know about you, but the latter seems what's happening to me right now. The reception is really friendly, it's just the management that seems to be the problem here.
