Amross Motel was a fantastic stop for us on our drive around the South Island. Barry and Donna are so friendly and helpful, have a fantastic knowledge of the local area. The motel is super clean and has everything you could possible need for your stay. Guaranteed parking with no extra cost to your stay is a major plus. We stayed in one of the balcony spa rooms. The spa was very enjoyable after a big day of walking. 10/10 for the Amross Motel

This was a nice place, close to town. We were early and the hosts allowed us to park the car while we had lunch and explored the city until we could check in. The room was nicely equipped with a stocked kitchenette and comfy bed. We would definitely stay here again!

Barry and Donna were excellent hosts. They gave plenty of great advice on places to see and eating options. The place is located in the centre of Dunedin so you can walk to most things. The place is spotless and has just been renovated. I would recommend this place to anyone to stay. Has laundry facilities also.

Super stay. Barry and Donna were really friendly and helpful. The apartment was spacious and immaculate, had everything we needed. Loved the Pina Colada toiletries.

Barry was a nice host but the facilities are a bit dated and with such a large room (family room - one king, two twins) it was surprising to see such a small bathroom. The internet Wi-Fi just couldn’t be used and we resorted to cell service.

Hi Paul, you were amazed when I took you to the room and even commented on how modern & spacious it was. We gave you a password for secure Wi FI but you never used it to log in. Being on site 24/7 we would of been more than happy to help you get onto the Fibre Wifi.

Good but not perfect
Great one bedroom apartment, clean spacious and great range of TV channels including Netflix. On the downside the sofa was rather uncomfortable, no chairs for the balcony and the kitchenette had insufficient large pans to cook for two. Also there is a new building being built next door (so zero view from balcony), not their fault but at least mentioning it when they showed us to our room would have been helpful together with the 8am start time for the builders. (However outside those times the place was very quiet.)

Thank you for your comments Scott. . Sofas are a personal preference as are views. We would have thought a frypan and two pots was sufficient for a studio unit though. As you are aware we live on site and are more than happy to help with any queries. You just need to come and see us.

This trip I am on the road 5 weeks and at week 4. We have stayed in many places and this stay is one we will remember for the right reasons. Shame the TV wouldn't connect for us but that is technology. We will try to stay at Amross again next trip in 2024. Thank you

Barry an excellent host. Lodging is actually an efficiency with fridge, kettle, toaster, stove and utensils. Close to university and Main Street with stores, etc.

Great value in a great location
Great motel in a great location - just a short walk to plenty of cafes and restaurants, and 20 minute walk to the Octagon. Spacious spotless rooms, friendly and helpful owner, and good value for money. One of the best value for money motels we stayed in during a 3 week NZ trip. Would definitely stay here again.

Helpful and friendly owners. Warm ,clean and quiet room. Close to main centre and to university for visiting family visiting students, Bus at door which takes you to the HUB central bus station. Good restaurants nearby.

The apartment/motel units were spacious and had all the amenities you'd need for a short or an extended stay. The interiors were recently remodeled and include up-to-date appliances.

Great accomodation
The reception staff at check in was super friendly and welcoming and offered local recommendations. Our room was large, clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Super comfortable bed. The area was quiet and safe with convenient parking on site.

The manager owner was the best I have ever witnessed. Barry was absolutely fantastic. He even helped carry luggage up to our room. The room was everything we needed. What a charming place. Maybe could use new cushions on the sofa-bed bed what a fantastic place.
