"We were hoping for bacon but rumor has it that the new owners don't provide bacon anymore. Our granddaughter was disappointed as well. Also, the toaster took 5 times on high to cook my english muffin and no granola for my yogurt. We have stayed many times over the last 5 years and the value is gone. "

"The Shire is in a wonderful location and I would recommend for a short stay. They are in the midst of a renovation and the rooms and exterior are nice and well kept. My only issue was that the coffee bars were not well stocked all the time with the same variety and the ice machine was not well stocked as it ran out of water to produce ice during our 2 night stay. Otherwise, the place and location is wonderful."

"Excellent location opposite Quechee Gorge; quaint, charming old-time Inn; very quiet. The on-premises restaurant was outstanding, both in terms of the food and the serving staff. My wife and I greatly enjoyed our dinner and next morning's excellent breakfast. On the minus side, the air conditioner cycled on/off frequently in short, annoying bursts. The room furniture was eclectic and dated, although the bed was comfortable. The old plank floors creaked noisily, which didn't really bother us,...

"This was our second time staying here and it never disappoints! I booked this trip during our kids' spring break for a quick getaway and to use the amazing heated outdoor pool. It's a great location convenient to all the amazing sites Vermont has to offer. Would love to go back again in the fall!"
