"The construction was a bit off-putting at first, but to me it showed they were making improvements and maintaining things. Room was great, very clean. Lots of entrances/exits and parking, we were able to park our vehicle right by our room door. Lots of space around the building to walk our dog, although I noticed lots of cigarette butts surrounding the property that could use a clean up. "We stayed with our two kids for a staycation weekend in the city. We were very pleasantly surprised by the Birchwood. It is well maintained, and the staff are very friendly. Free parking was nice. There are restaurants within walking distance. Close to Assiniboine Park. Comfy beds, spacious rooms, nice bathrooms, mini fridge, Keurig. But the best part was the pool area. There is a really fun indoor playground, ping pong table, foosball table, kiddy pool, regular pool, and hot tub. We had a blast...

"Check in was wonderful and the staff was friendly and efficient. The room was clean with no odours or lingering scents. Pool was a lot of fun for the kids and the hot tub was great for the adults. The breakfast was fantastic! Everything that was Gluten free was labelled - and they made the eggs and sausage GF - which rarely happens at other hotels. Will definitely look for Best Western first for future travels."

"Entire property was run down including the rooms. Was like being in a hotel from the 1980’s. Entire place smelt like smoke, hot tub had hair and clumps of something floating around, pool water was very low and stains all over the hallway carpets. Felt like an incredibly unsafe area especially for a solo traveller as evidenced by the drug users coming into the hotel lobby to use the ATM. “Breakfast” option, was very disappointing.
