"The Fortress is a simply magnificent Resort. This beach front Resort has all the facilities you can ever want for a relaxing and truly enjoyable experience. "Great hotel in a fantastic location in nature but not far from the beaches. The view is amazing and palm trees with monkeys jumping around is just beautiful. The infinity pool offers nice views and and the hotel area is small. The food was excellent. The chef was very helpful in finding gluten free options and the food was delicious. Highly recommend a stop at this place. "

"Had to wait over an hour past posted check in time. Was told some story about the AC, but, seems it was housekeeping as the floors were wet when we finally checked in. Room was run down..biggest issue was that neither of the two showers drained properly. In fact, sewage came up and created an offensive odor. "We stayed for 2 nights, and we both thought that the food and the public areas were amazing. We also booked the yoga classes which were great. The bungalows are very cool, they are open, so you get a pretty unique experience. The beds are a bit on the hard side, this should be improved."

"Large rooms with comfortable bed right on the beach. Easy walking to many tourist shops and many restaurants. Lots of fresh seafood available from these restaurants. Staff was very friendly and eager to help with a smile. The restaurant prepared a seafood grill each night and set tables with candies at the edge of the surf. "Nos encantó como estaba mimetizado con el entorno. Estás en plena naturaleza, pero con todas las comodidades. A nivel de diseño, nos encantó la arquitectura y la decoración del complejo. Había variedad de platos y bebidas, todo buenísimo. Hay oferta de actividades muy interesantes. La comunicación con el personal es fácil y cómoda. Es el lugar ideal para relajarse. Nosotros fuimos con nuestro propio coche y el acceso es complicado por la estrechez de la carretera, pero no hubo ningún percance....

"At the end of our Sri Lanka holiday we decided to spend a bit more on our Unawatuna hotel & were not disappointed. We had large rooms with loads of space, kitchen, really comfy beds, excellent views from our balconies. The staff were helpful & the pool lovely. We did book nicer rooms that some there & didn't eat so can't comment on the food. It's a bit of a walk or a short Tuk Tuk ride to the main tourist area or a beach but that also means it's quiet there."

"What an amazing place, 5 star luxury, the hotel grounds are pristinely, you have your own beach (as its difficult to get to unless you have hotel access. Great pool, the food is the best we had in Sri Lanka, they serve different types of Sri Lankan breakfast that you can try, like egg hoppers and sting hoppers with curry and dhal.
